BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I will definitely update this thread when that happens. The message on myCIC indicated it should arrive within six weeks.

I did receive an AOR prior to applying. It came on March 19 2013, and I applied on March 23 2013. A lot of the folks on here were panicking because they hadn't attached a copy of the AOR e-mail with their application. I was one of them. I did attach a PDF explanation letter with my file #, and given a link to the bulletin news indicating that CEC applicants can apply with an AOR, and that I had received one.

Ohh this changes things. I thought you hadn't received your AOR yet either. Now I am back to being nervous :-[

Quick question, as I am a bit confused now... Do I send my BOWP to CPC-Vegreville or the CIO in Sydney NS? As most of you know by now (sorry for repeating), I haven't received my AOR yet so I'll be attaching an explanatory letter.

Because of this I don't know whether CIO should receive my BOWP application (as my CEC application is with them) or to CPC Vegreville as stated in the instruction guide (IMM 5553).

Any help is greatly appreciated, as always!

if you apply for it online, it is much faster. it is ~1.5 months. If you apply paper, then it will take ~3 months.

BOWP app should only go to Vegreville, IF you are sending your app via paper means.

My closed WP was expiring on 31 May, 2013.
PR application filed on 24 Jan, 2013
AOR received on 6 March, 2013.
BOWP applied o March 23, 2013

Before applying for BOWP, I called CIC. They told me (twice )AOR was not the proof for the positive eligibility decision. Anyway, I went for it and applied. I had job offer letter for my current supervisor. i also filled that i am gonna work for the same employer.
I wrote an explanation letter that i was applying for BOWP. However, if they would not find me not eligible for BOWP, I asked them to consider my application for closed work permit as i had job offer for 6 months and i dont need LMO. I attached the AOR and job offer etc..
They issued anyways BOWP for one year. Very happy

Yes , i found it today in my mailbox. I didnt receive any email notification about it beforehand.

Hi Folks,
I need some advise regarding open work permit.
I have a closed work permit till 2015 and my spouse has an open work permit based on it and has a job now.

I have 2 PR applications with CIC.(both CEC and FSW and have file no for both).i am the principle applicant and i believe i should get PR , worst case by the end of the year.My contract ended recently and i would like to apply for open work permit.While i see from the forum,it is worth the try.I would like to know how my spouse would be affected.Would my spouse able to get an open work permit too if i am approved for a year based on my PR application.

Any help from the experts would be much appreciated.
