BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Can I apply BOWP after expiry of my WP (m in Canada currently on closed WP)?

(i am currently on implied status, since my company already filed extension of my existing closed WP). So BOWP application will go in parallel with my other WP extension?

Hello,

There are members in this forum who applied after their current work permit expired and successfully got the BOWP. In their cases, they didn't have a second (closed) work permit application in progress.

But, there were few rejections when the applicant had a second work permit application / LMO in process. I would suggest you to wait until you get get your closed work permit for your current employer and then apply for BOWP.

My case: My closed work permit expires next year - I applied for BOWP and received last month (my employer is ending my contract soon - I mentioned this in the explanation letter).

Do it online ! Processing time is very less as compared to paper application.

Guys,

Please advise me if I should go for online application for BOWP or paper based. Also, I need to apply Open work Permit for my wife and Vistors Record for my son.

Can we do all these through online?

Hey spring.bustle - do you by any chance remember who received the BOWP after expiry of the work permit? Did they have their AOR already? Just checking for my own peace of mind...

I applied online on March 23rd with an explanation letter, but no AOR e-mail attachment and I received an approval letter in myCIC this Friday.. My work permit was expiring on April 1st, so it was a close one for me. Glad it all worked out! ;b

Hey lithium002, congrats! can you clarify - did you not have your AOR at the time you applied? What did you say in the explanation letter?

I will definitely update this thread when that happens. The message on myCIC indicated it should arrive within six weeks.

I did receive an AOR prior to applying. It came on March 19 2013, and I applied on March 23 2013. A lot of the folks on here were panicking because they hadn't attached a copy of the AOR e-mail with their application. I was one of them. I did attach a PDF explanation letter with my file #, and given a link to the bulletin news indicating that CEC applicants can apply with an AOR, and that I had received one.

CEC Application Filed on Feb 7th, 2013
AOR Received on Mar 19th, 2013
PGWP expiring on April 1st, 2013
Applied for BOWP on Mar 23, 2013
Received confirmation message on myCIC on May 2nd, 2013

Received my hard-copy within 5 days of the notification/approval.
