The dope legislation is advancing quickly presumably because there will be thousands and thousands of dope-smoking Canadians actively contacting their MPs' and Senators' offices to push for its rapid consideration. As previous posters on here have remarked, the offices of MPs and Senators do actually keep tallies of how many phone calls and e-mails they receive concerning each of the different Bills presently before Parliament, so as to be able to relay to their Member/Senator which matters are apparently most on the minds of Canadians. So it is not a waste of time for us to be phoning and e-mailing MPs and Senators concerning C-6. For the record, I'm absolutely against legalizing marijuana.

Well said. Dopeys are contacting their MPs and Senators, so their legislation is progressing. C6 not so much a priority.

Is anyone else appreciating the irony that
- People ask Senator Jaffer on Twitter if she thinks the bill will pass by summer
- Senator Jaffer then gives her assessment of the situation, to the best of her knowledge
- People then complain that Senator Jaffer gives not 100% reliable information.

You either get "educated estimations" on how long this bill will take or no information at all. Not at single human on this earth can say for sure that this bill will or will not pass before the summer.

So you shouldn't complain if Senator Jaffer gives her own "educated guess" when you ask her. I mean what do you expect her to say when you ask her? Nothing?

spyfy, she has the option to say that she does not know. She is a senator not like you and me. If these words come from you, then you are right. If I were her, I would say "I do not know" because I am not a PM at HoC period

https://twitter.com/SenJaffer/status/870684257806565376, i'm sure she knows more then us what's going on in the hoc

Of course. She

I am gonna need marijuana in the coming months/years. For now, it is more important to me than Bill c-6. Not kidding

He, he, C-6 was delayed in the Senate's Standing Committee because of the Artificial Intelligence and 3-D printing discussions, things which augment your brain and body. Now C-6 is delayed in the HoC because of marijuana discussions, thing which fries your brain and ruins your body.

i wish everyone do this, i already did it many times but we need more

Nagging MPs won't get things done. The bill is low priority compared to other bills that impact many more people. People don't realize it but bill C-24 helped improve processing times. I really hope C-6 doesn't pass because we'll be back to >2 years processing times.

This has been written before many times but the major reason why processing times went down isn't the reduced intake but the fact that C-24 simplified the way citizenship applications are processed immensely. So the processing times will not go back to 2 years and more just because some more people can apply.

So 4 years residence, 180 days physical presence per year, more rigorous language requirements didn't help filter many applicants who would've applied otherwise and thus reduced accumulating backlog?!

Man. Whether you want it or no. This bill will pass this year and the 3/5 rule within a year. So it is all about luck. If you already gonna apply this year (4/6), then the bill will harm you for sure if the 3/5 will come into force this year, which I doubt. However, if you landed in 2015 and after then bill C6 will be useful.
