Good news, hopefully C-6 will be done soon, cons cant drag the bill for ever. The good thing is that we have 2 weeks sittings in April, who know the bill is done in next two weeks.Redfield said:A good news to cheer you up guys. A confirmation that the changes of Bill C-6 will be almost immediatly implemented once the Bill passes. Citizenship and Immigration minister, Ahmed Hussain said in HoC that changes would be implemented very quickly https://openparliament.ca/committees/immigration/42-1/54/ahmed-hussen-45/
are u kidding????/ of course the cons. are the problem, who doesn't know that.. But they are the majority in the senate..jsm0085 said:I don't know why people are so pessimistic.
This is why the libs are confident and the cons are engaging in delay tactics. The only issue right now is the conservatives.
I think that that's being a bit unfair. C-6 officially entered the Senate Chamber on June 17th last year, at its First Reading by Sen. Omidvar, so that's now coming up on ten months ago. And when the Senate isn't sitting, it's not as though the senators and their staffs are all off on "vacation" at all; they're supposed to be working on preparations for the next sitting, as well following-up on things arising or consequent upon past sittings, committee reports, etc. As one who's also affected by this Bill, I can certainly understand the anger & frustration on here concerning C-6, but if Omidvar & Jaffer et al. are indeed 'flogging a dead horse' and have yet to realise this, then we'll all know soon enough.lilen said:vacation*

Libs and independs are together - making them the majority. That's already pre determined.spyfy said:No they aren't, the current composition is:
39 Conservative
34 Non affiliated in the Independent Senators Group
19 Liberals
8 Non affiliated
Some of the independent Senators have been appointed by Conservative Prime Ministers.
Still "the Conservatives", as the caucus that is currently delaying, hold 39 of 100 non-vacant seats. That is far from a majority.
Do you know any senate rule that gives him an authority to do it? The speaker has almost zero "power" - even his rulings on points of order can be overturned by the vote in senate.quasar81 said:It is time to start putting pressure on leadership of senate.
