Unlike some other people in here, I don't believe I owe anyone an apology for predicting wrong.

I also do not believe that anyone who predicted correctly in here had any inside knowledge. Why exactly does that have to be the case? There were only two possible outcomes so you had a 50% chance of being correct just by random guessing (i.e. tossing a coin).

Unless he was inside the Prime Minister's head, DeserLion did not have any inside knowledge when he predicted correctly. He just "tossed a coin" so to speak and luck favored him.

But yea people in this forum are desperate for information that isn't out yet so they're inclined to believe that those who guess correctly must know something for real. Grow up people.

It kinda reminds me of the first few years of the US Diversity Visa Lottery in the mid-2000s. Abuse from unscrupulous lawyers and agents was rampant at that time, with very little government information to counter that. They prayed on desperate people who wanted to be selected by the lottery. I remember there were 'agents' who claimed to have "special connections" to the US Government and could influence the outcome of the selection and get you to 'win' the lottery for a small fee (in the order of thousands of dollars).

This was all bogus of course as people later learned when the US Government became more vocal about announcing that nobody had any special connections to them and that the selection of entries from the Lottery entrant pool was strictly random and was done by a computer program. There is no human being working the US Government who can help you get selected. It's out of their hands.
Haha I agree .. people who predict it that correctly .. predict it that from "freaking out" point of view .. their "freaking out" turned to be correct .. I am the one who apologized because basically I accused them that they don't have any idea what they are talking about based on the fact that it will not make any sense that a very important bill that will affect millions of Canadian and PRs won't pass in very short amount of time!!

I disagree with you, if you look back for all of my comments I persistently insisted on the June 18 as the last day of submission before the new changes including the royal assent, a chance if I said it once, but I persistently mentioned June 18 and not any other date, it is not a guess and I do not like to have further discussion as this will not change facts and deviate us to no where

sigh...

Is there any chance that the new bill will be implemented next year?

I can apply this November, and this news is very shocking to me.

I might have to change my plan that I've set for few years ahead..

That's interesting news. Note the highlighted "fact" below, about which we've been quarreling pessimistically here:

Quick facts

- Requiring 14-64 year-olds to meet knowledge and language requirements provides an incentive for more individuals to acquire official language proficiency and civics knowledge, which helps them successfully integrate into Canadian society.

- Citizenship applicants will need to be physically present in Canada for a total of four out of their last six years. In addition, they will need to be physically present in Canada for 183 days per year for at least four of those six years. These provisions will come into force in approximately a year.

- Under the new streamlined decision-making model, citizenship officers will decide all aspects of a citizenship application. Under the old model, obtaining citizenship was a three-step process that involved duplication of work.

- Since 2006, Canada has welcomed over 1,300,000 proud new Canadians. Citizenship and Immigration Canada received 333,860 citizenship applications in 2013, the highest volume ever.

That is a real problem .. I think they should give people time and not enforce it immediately .. some people are just about to apply .. they will screw them and screw their plans. There should be a notice for people so they can adapt with the new circumstances.

By the way, the item I highlighted in red in my very last post above is from the Government of Canada news release: http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?nid=859509&_ga=1.139675899.97878150.1393792084. Of course, they can change their mind, but then why would they publish it as a quick fact:

Under the new streamlined decision-making model, citizenship officers will decide all aspects of a citizenship application. Under the old model, obtaining citizenship was a three-step process that involved duplication of work.

What? I posted the link and I didnt pay attention to that! Woow I hope this is true!! I said before the 1977,2008 Acts took a year to be enforced .. but I am not comfortable to the current situation and how the government proceeded so I am not sure if they will do as they did in previous Citizenship Acts.

Yep; let's just hope there won't be any "special circumstance" they can leverage to change their minds...
