all these petition or effort to try to stop the bill from passing is sooo waste of time. i said it once and i am saying it again. i bet u dont give it a damn if u already have obtained your citizenship. thousands and thousands PRs will be affected, but so it is what it is. I suggest u do something when u obtain the power to vote!

Your opinion is valuable, no doubt, but may I bring your attention to the fact that our petition gathered over 6000 signatures and was already presented today at the House of Commons? As well if you take some time to read the news section on the petition page you will see what other achievements have been made.

is any Conservative MPs you contacted going to vote against bill-24 when it is presented to parilament? NONE!
then what change is it really bring? and Liberals and NDPs Voting NO doesnt change ANYTHING.
Most effective way is to reach out anyone u know or in the community not to vote for CONSERVATIVES next october. but even that is a long shot. I admire you putting your time and effort but sadly it wont really make a difference.

You can be pessimistic about whatever you want, it's your choice, but you want to keep it to yourself, and not to discourage others.
The goal of this petition is not to revoke the bill but to modify it and make it fairer. As long as we protest there will be a chance to rise more and more public attention, and make the cons feel the pressure and rethink their decision. Although we all know the chance is small, it's still worth fighting for.

I'm afraid you don't understand the legislative system of Canada.
After passing the 2nd reading (vote) the bill is going for further debates and amendments in the immigration committee, it is where all changes/amendments to the bill will take place. If you read the petition carefully, we do not oppose to the bill as a whole but only to certain points in it. Only after those changes are made, and the committee votes on it it will be passed for the 3rd reading and to the rest of the process of signing the bill into a law.
By gathering the research, quotes, references and writing the petition body and claims (and you can read the full text in the bottom of the petition body) we well prove our position. By making it to the news/TV we make it available for the general public and MPs who can drive the change within the house of commons and immigration committee. By signing on it and spreading the word around, you and others make it visible it is not just a narrow interest of a certain group but something which affects country at all.
Nothing is promised and nothing is granted but Canada is a democratic country and that's how things are made in democratic regime - if you want to help you can sign and volunteer to work with us: https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/parliament-of-canada-do-not-allow-unfair-treatment-of-former-foreign-workers-and-international-students-by-new-canadian-citizenship-bill-c-24
If you don't - well, you can keep sitting on the fence.

Great news.

But aren't we over reacting here. When things are silent and at rest and nothing moving on the bill. Shouldn't we just lobby it with MPs and present it in House of Commons right around the next debate?

All we can do is to present our claims and materials and ask for it to be spoken out loud. There might be better or worse times to do it but we do not have control when and how the petition is being presented by the MPs.
I, personally, and so is our group, very thankful to Ms. Blanchette-Lamothe for the support she gave to our cause and for the presentation of the petition in the house of commons, I believe so should be you.
