That is a K1 visa (takes 8 months minimum to approve after interview at embassy), it gives the right to marry within 90 days once in the USA. Then you have to apply for AOS, which takes up to a year in a busy city, and for 6 months you have no ability to work or travel outside the USA. Trust the USA process is absolutely brutal you want no part of it. For Canada your spouse can get a PR within 6-8 months as just a fiance.

Thank you for the clarity. Makes me feel slightly better about this process.
Just one correction- for Canada you can be sponsored for a PR within 6-8 months as a spouse not 'fiance' :)

Sorry was thinking conjugal or common-law, guess fiance does not qualify. Again USA refuses to acknowledge anything common-law as the marriage certificate is needed.

Any news on the current status of the application process? Has anyone called IRCC lately and inquired on the applications to which date the processing is in progress?

I did call IRCC today - they are still working on July lot - no date confirmation was given. However, Rep did confirm that they have received our paperwork & is waiting for documents verification. She gave me temp file # starting with F.

Was told to wait and will hear something soon from them.

Hopefully we'll get some positive updates soon!!:)

Hey guys, I have submitted my biometric receipt today. Application submitted 7th August. Anybody received AOR yet? August application?

Hey y'all!

My wife's (Canadian, BC resident) and my (US citizen) application was received on August 16th, and we (like the rest of you) are still waiting on AOR. Seems like Sydney is processing applications more than twice as slowly as Missassauga is, based on the trackers I've been looking at.

I wonder what's up with that?

Some applicant on July forum called up CIC and all got the same answer that "they are working on applications up to 24th of July". However only applicant whose application was received before 10th got AOR. But the good thing is the AOR news from July are rushing in, like they are speeding up!
Let's hope that is the case! ;)

I know it’s a very stressing wait for all of us.
They received our app on Aug 13th and we paid for biometrics upfront and haven’t heard a word.
I think with the summer and the change in office they just had a backlog, I would not worry to much so early in the process.
Good luck everyone :)
