Excuse my language but what the fuuuuck? Seriously. Oh, so here's an "adequate" application, we'll make them wait a bit longer because we won't require extra information. ??? ??? ???
Thanks CIC for putting a perverse smile on my face every day.

Haha! I was hesitant to post it because I didnt want to give any mis information to anyone but I figured its worth trying to make SOME sense out of this process.

I know the feeling. Some of the things I've been told by call centre agents are so unfathomable that I've decided not to post them as they'd only make things worse. Good luck with everything anyway!

Hi.

CIC received our updated form on 14 October 2014 and we got our SA on 13 Nov. My wife, the sponsor called them about every two weeks to request an update. We got our SA just after she called CIC. Try calling them and maybe you will get lucky :)

congrats you have been waiting a while! its about time.

Are we technically Sept/October applicants now that we needed to resubmit the new form? Technically the timeline doesnt start until they receive the updTed forms :S

From I have read and through contacts with CIC, we are deemed to be applicants as from the date they have received the new forms. Also check your application status and you will see they have received the application on the date they have received the new form

We just checked our ecase (husbands) and after the last month of it being application received it now says that they cant find it with the information I provided.. Haha.. anyone else have this problem?

My wife also got UCI number today ;D. so thats conclude first stage : sponsorship approval process.

When my husband called on Monday the officer he spoke with said that the people who receive SA later than most is because their application for SA and PR was adequate and did not require any more information. The officer also said that people who get SA earlier usually require more information from their VO and that's why they are contacted so quickly. We waited about 80+ days before we heard anything and then that's when the officer relayed that information to my husband. Please do not quote me on that as every officer differs-however, this is the SECOND time a immigration officer explained that situation to him. So maybe the application is moving ahead with no worries and you'll get SA eventually very soon! :)

I bet you spoke to the same operator twice.
They won't be giving SPONSORSHIP APPROVAL (SA) to someone who doesn't meet the minimum requirement, they won't even send your file to the VO of your country if you don't first meet the sponsorship requirements.
So it's just INCONSISTENCY

This isn't so for me. My application was deemed received when I first sent it in. I was asked to submit the updated form, but my ECAS status still shows application received on the original date in August. Perhaps it is different for others...their process is not consistent.

We also got conflicting information. We were asked to send an additional form (not an updated version, just one that was missing from our application). Even though we were told that our application would be 'received' from the day it is complete (aka the day the received the additional form), our Ecas always stated that it was received August 19th, the day they got the original application.

Still worth knowing that the SA took 77 days overall, so even if they are stating that we were August applicants, it took far longer than the August average...

Great news!

They asked my passport today! :D :D :D

Good luck for those still waiting, you will be able to be with your loved ones soon!

We just got the passport request too on November 26th and our visa office is São Paulo... it looks like our status is a couple of weeks behind yours, so keep us updated please! ;D

I have never applied for any type of visa and got a UCI number when I phoned yesterday. However, when I use it online it says they can't find it.. I'm confused. My husband has yet to get an email stating we've received SA. Is this because I'm the applicant and not sponsor?

Try using the sponsor's name and info instead... that worked for me.

Just started posting on this forum...visa office is sao paulo... added my info to the spreadsheet for Aug 2014 applications... thanks!

have you submitted ur docs on oct 6 and received SA on nov. 27th? mines oct 23rd so then i should be next soon right, sorry im just asking because im worried i received a second letter requesting same docs on nov 18th mabe bcz i sent in the form late and thats why they havnt got to oct. 23rd yet you think it could be?

My dad called cic the other day and they said their system automatically generates the letter as soon as 45 days are up.
