Fingerprints are asked if your name or date of birth matches with someone who has a criminal background. As fingerprints are unique. that's why CIC asks for fingerprint check which ensures that the person applying for citizenship does not have a criminal background.

Thanks. The letter was dated from April 28. Took them long enough to mail it. I think they're expecting to study anyways.

I moved from Ottawa to Montreal in late January and requested a file transfer that was initiated a few weeks ago. When I logged in today to check the status, this is what I saw:

1 - We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on August 25, 2014.
2 - We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on October 31, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
3 - We started processing your application on December 19, 2014.
4 - Your file was transferred to the Ottawa office on January 5, 2015. The Ottawa office will contact you.
5 - Your file was transferred to the Ottawa office on April 28, 2015. The Ottawa office will contact you.
6 - We sent you a notice on May 8, 2015 to appear and write the citizenship test on May 13, 2015 at 1:30 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Now, I don't know if this is a glitch in the system where I was only given 3 days before the test, but I want to know you take on it. I will be able to attend the test if in Montreal and can prepare for it no problem.

Meh, I only get a week. My eCas says we sent a letter on May 8 for a test on May 14. So six days only really.

After calling the centre, it turns out that my test date was cancelled as I live in Montreal. Oh well, I'll blame it on bad luck.

Maybe they are cutting down the three weeks to a week and a half to speed up applications due to the new rules coming into effect. I received letter for finger print on May 5th, I did it the same day so i'll see how long they gonna take to send test invite.

Me 2. I took my test on March 5 and was told I would get my oath invite within 8~10 weeks. So, I thought I would get it sometime now. Well, I'm still waiting for it.

Apparently, there seems to be an oath ceremony @London today. The next is scheduled for June 17.

Btw, jrjayl I still head nothing for the oath and the call centre stopped checking the status of applications outside the posted processing times (2 months).. I've had my test March 19th as you already know, should I start to freak out ?

True. Few days earlier when I checked CIC for upcoming oath ceremony @London; it never showed May 13. It only showed May 5 and June 17.

It could be earlier than June 17!!!
