CIC website says that they r working on 13 aug but we didnt hear anything yet so what do you guys suggest should we call them and ask our application status.

please suggest

Id call Monday morning if u haven't heard something by then. I got my aor on a saturday morning at 7am so u might hear something this weekend! If u do have to call most likely they'll be able to tell u that they've opened your application and maybe give u yourr uci number. Good luck. You're almost there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for u and the rest of august!

I have a question: With the application package, we sent along the Use of Representative paper and put me as my husband's representative. I am the sponsor. Does this mean that ALL correspondence will automatically come to me via email, phone, or mail? and they won't go to him? (The mail system there isn't reliable and neither are the cell phones, so by putting me as the representative we were hoping to avoid any delays due to bad phone service and a poor mail system.) Thanks.

I always thought the Use of Rep. form was for if you're going through a lawyer or something. I didn't know you could use it for that purpose as well, I wish we would have done this! haha

But doesn't most of the stuff go to the sponsor anyway?

Hi All,

So I'm closing in on 80 days for Stage 1 and was beginning to think about approaching CIC- is this a reasonable idea at this point?

I understand that they only think we should raise issues once the application is beyond the processing time- I am not sure if this is by stage? But I don't see that my VO would go any quicker to make up for delays in Missisuaga.

Our address is in the UK still (my sponsor is now back in Canada) so it is possible that they have already posted a letter- but having my mind put to rest would be great. What's the best way to go about contacting them- have the sponsor call from within Canada?

Yes you should approach CIC, stage 1 should be max 65 days. Although you need to contact them from a Canadian line, cant call from overseas which presents a huge problem. It is unlikely any time lost in stage 1 will be gained in stage 2 as London does state they start reviewing applications as they are received by them BUT this is CIC and nothing follows uniform order so who knows.

If your sponsor is residing in Canada then she will be the 1 who gets sponsorship approval letter/ email (make sure she checks spam and bin folder). She is also the only 1 who can call CIC CA as I mentioned at the beginning. However when calling it really is best to call when they open 1st thing, my wife was calling last week after work for 2 hours every night as she can't call any earlier and she was on hold every night until they shut.

Thanks Rising Sun.

Fortunately my partner is a teacher so early mornings are part of the deal- depending on how long she is kept on hold it may be that 8am is too late for her!

We do need to update her address back to Canada so hopefully she can speak to an operator about that even if they are reluctant to look up a file- not sure how likely it is that they give a generic answer.

Hahaha my wife is a teacher too in AB and her issue is, she can only dedicate about 10 minutes to the phone in the morning and when she finishes at 3pm she rings until the office closes.

YAY got my sponsorship aproval on the 19th of October! I was away in Malta and when i came back there was the email waiting for us! :) If someone can update my status on the spreadsheet that would be great!!! Now the second half waiting begins...

Hey congrats! What date did CIC receive your application? Your stats under your name say filed on the 13th of Aug... but the spread sheet says send Aug 3 and received Aug 5? I'm confused. Regardless, CONGRATS!

You give me hope that I will get approved this decade ;)

According to Ecas they are. If my understanding is correct it takes an average of 65 days to process applications received on 13 August 2012. After this time if you still haven't heard anything contact CIC

I'm not sure if they count non working days or not...

This is also where I am unsure, because they are only working on applications on the 13th August from Last week. So if my understanding is correct they have only been working on your application for about 5 days in theory (but I hope someone else on here will confirm if I am understanding their process right or not)
