I thought it was only possible when doing an application Inland? If I'm wrong, that's a very good strategy!markbram said:yeah its hidden away in the website somewhere that you can do it. After the initial assessment they say that you can apply for it, but then it takes another 2 months, but if you send them together it cuts the time down.
congrats tink23!tink23 said:It's SENT!!!!! I ended up using UPS because I think it's cheaper. I bought a little plastic envelope thingy from Staples just to keep it safe from water, and sealed it in there, and wrote the address and our information on the outside, then slid it into the UPS bag and had the address on there as well... It is going to arrive tomorrow morning (I actually only live like 20 minutes from the processing centre, so it would be nice if it could be hand delivered). Signature requested. It weighed 4.2 lbs and cost $20.34.
Only possible for Inland applications as it is 11months for the first stage - for outland it's 3 months, and some VO are done quickly after that, so for a lot of applicants it's quicker to do outland.Tullysgirl said:I didn't know an open work permit application could be sent with the Sponsorship/PR paperwork.
Thank you! I'm tracking it and should arrive today, so I'll let u know.louie_ann said:congrats tink23!
I also would like to know, since my medicals also say Ottawa. I'm sending the package to Mississauga, though...tink23 said:Thank you! I'm tracking it and should arrive today, so I'll let u know.
Does anyone know this business with Ottawa? Can our applications be switched from Mississauga to Ottawa? How is this decision made? I know when we got my husband's medical in Santo Domingo, it said that it would go there via Ottawa.... but before all Dominican medicals used to be processed in Trinidad-Port of Spain, so why does it now say Ottawa?!?!?! Ottawa seems to be the slower of the two.... Anyone know what Ottawa's role is in the sponsor part of the application now???
Yes, I sent our package to Mississauga as well... Arrived this morning... I just wonder if they then transfer some to Ottawa, and how do they decide which ones go?kyc221 said:I also would like to know, since my medicals also say Ottawa. I'm sending the package to Mississauga, though...
Yayy congrats! Welcome to the August group =)markbram said:Hi guys,

Good luck everyone!!!
and that tink123 is the million dollar question!!!! it is a random selection but looks like it is always the mid to latter part of the month that lands up in ottawa --- March.....May.....June...and now some of July......tink23 said:Yes, I sent our package to Mississauga as well... Oh great, I hope that trend doesn't necessarily continue for August because Ottawa seems to be moving a lot slower than Mississauga!KJG said:and that tink123 is the million dollar question!!!! it is a random selection but looks like it is always the mid to latter part of the month that lands up in ottawa --- March.....May.....June...and now some of July......
I think they are actually about the same... the first time when files were transferred to Ottawa people were super happy because it seems that Ottawa was faster, but very soon they had the same number of cases and files than Mississauga, and they started working at the same pace... so I don't imagine that it makes a real difference... it might be that if Mississauga works on the first half of the month, and Ottawa on the second part (pure speculation of course) then 1st of the month and 15th of the month get approved at the same time... it's like running 2 parallel lines! but in the end - you will get the approval... it's difficult to wait, but it seems that it's getting slightly better for July and August, quite a few people start to get AOR (almost nobody did in January, Feb and March), and approvals got quicker...tink23 said:Oh great, I hope that trend doesn't necessarily continue for August because Ottawa seems to be moving a lot slower than Mississauga!
Yes, that is true. AORs seem to be coming... Someone who submitted in the July thread on July 17th has been approved as sponsor! Just a tiny bit over a month!Sweden said:I think they are actually about the same... the first time when files were transferred to Ottawa people were super happy because it seems that Ottawa was faster, but very soon they had the same number of cases and files than Mississauga, and they started working at the same pace... so I don't imagine that it makes a real difference... it might be that if Mississauga works on the first half of the month, and Ottawa on the second part (pure speculation of course) then 1st of the month and 15th of the month get approved at the same time... it's like running 2 parallel lines! but in the end - you will get the approval... it's difficult to wait, but it seems that it's getting slightly better for July and August, quite a few people start to get AOR (almost nobody did in January, Feb and March), and approvals got quicker...
