I dont know if there is any legal obligation to it. But the application depends on the following:

1. Sponsor Eligibility
2. Applicant's medicals
3. Applicant's Criminality Check
4. Applicant's Security Check
5. Relationship Genuinity

If they find anything that needs to be clarified, they can do it by asking for docs or asking people to come in for interview.

Additional docs are GENERALLY for the first 4 items in the above list. If they are asking for item 5, it is generally updated chat history, photos, proof of relationship letters from friends/relatives.

But if there is something that needs to be clarified by direct meeting, then the interview will be called for. Again, this inference is based on what I have seen so far in the forum for the past 8 months.

Mari, these are only my observations and I hope it clarifies your question.

Senior forum members, please feel free to chime in here.
Thank you so much for everything!!:):)

Bit of a weird question (I guess to those who have had your acceptance already) but I've just read somewhere that after you get your approval you must land in Canada within it's validity date which typically is 1 year after your medicals were completed.
Problem is that we originally started collecting everything needed for the visa last year before the process changed, so my husband's medical was done then and we just sent it along with our application in hopes that they would accept it (which they have). So our medical is due to expire within the next few months and now I don't know what to do. Neither of us are living in Canada (I've lived in my husband's country with him for 14 years) so we have our entire lives to shift overseas, jobs to leave and a house to sell. From what I've read, they only change it in exceptional circumstances and even then it is rare.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks everyone!

Does anyone have any idea what the average processing time for Paris is at the moment? We applied April 4th and our application has been there since June 2nd. BGC started July 2nd but haven't heard anything since. I can't seem to find many applicants whose file is in Paris. Thanks a lot!

You will most likely be asked to do another medical closer to the time of decision if your decision is not made before previous medical expires.

Thanks for your reply Kinza_Bee. I suppose that would also be a pain and an expense but better than the alternative. I wonder what would happen if we got an approval a month before the expiry...

No worries. I've observed that two things happen. If you are very close to a decision being made then they will extend the medical if not they will ask you to do another. So hopefully it gets extended so you can avoid the added expense and still have time to move back with ease and at your own pace.

My med results took about 10 days to show passed. They were sent electronically from the doc's office. I don't think you will not be required to send PCCs, I don't think this is ever the case. While I was never asked PCCs by communication from IRCC, I do know that they were supposed to ask for them via letter as my notes revealed it. So, I would gather all your PCCs (if multiple) quickly and send them over the web form. I was also never asked for my Schedule A, they only told my spouse they would request it from me and never did.

I'm also planning on calling once I get and upload my second PCC. I wonder how long to wait before calling to see if it's been attached to my file for sure..

the medical exam was submitted June 27 and it still doesn't show a passed message on our cic gckey account. It's very frustrating. I've since submitted everything via web form (fbi report, military records) and mailed in the schedule a. So now it's just a waiting game and hoping they catch up. I will try calling them today though.

Congrats
Please share your timeline.
Thank you

Calling is a good idea, they can normally confirm that they've been attached to your file. But I've read people calling several times and getting different answers. It seems like IRCC phone support is really not at the level we'd all like.

We got Decision Made today on ECAS! I'm hoping it's a good decision and we get the next step soon!

I have the same AOR2 date as you (June 19) but my background states your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check. How long has your background check been not applicable for?

What I heard from some people, they didnt get any update for almost 4 months after AOR2 & then they got medical & PPR within 2 weeks. I would suggest order a gcms note & also contact your visa office if they can provide some updates

Already ordered GCMS notes I did not get time to call CIC I will for sure call them in 4-5 days, lets see what Info i get Acc to the spreadsheet for april 2017 i did not see anyone with DM status update and also very little number of march applicants got their PPR so I am assuming seeing the speed of all of it it might take few more weeks. Don`t know its just a guess.
