One thing lingering on my mind is that my official translations and affidavit were stapled to the original documents like my marriage certificate by the authorities in Italy. So there were 3 pages stapled together. They don't let you do the affidavit with a photocopy of the original. At the end of the affidavit, on the last page, the consulate also stamped it to certify the signature.

I took out the staples and the original certificate, and put in a photocopy, as we aren't supposed to send the originals. I hope I didn't make a mistake in doing this. Since we are sending originals of the police checks, I left the staples in for those. The consulate of Canada where I live thought that I had made a mistake by taking the staples out and not giving the originals of the other things too. I really hope I was right.

Did you send it using a courier service such as FedEx, or did you send it with a postal service such as Canada Post, USPS, etc? If you sent it via whatever service where you live is the public mail service, then that's not a courier. If you sent it with a shipping company, that's a courier.

Im not sure about this but i know on the form guides it says not to use staples so maybe removing them is ok.

Im aure this wont hinder your application. If its all there theyll find it.

From the looks of the spreadsheet I should be getting AOR in 1-2 weeks. I can't wait! I keep getting paranoid that I forgot something and will end up having my application returned to me. I'm also paranoid that I'll end up having my application refused. I'm less than a month in and I'm already going crazy. I really wish I had applied when I had the chance back in December. Some Ottawa applicants from that month are getting DMs right now.

Should have AOR within about 21-28 days by the look of it and then SA within 7-14 days on average.

Well, my application was received 19 days ago now, so hopefully I'll get AOR soon.

I'm so jealous of that guy who got DM from February ;D I saw that post. I'm crossing my fingers that Ottawa will speed up even more over the summer, since that's normally the fastest season for Ottawa.

IO am the same but I am waiting even less so far! Good we have april thread though, can then at least assume when things will start moving

Only 3 days here haha. Just got to wait.

Hoping my file gets sent to sydney as theyre generally quite quick but itll probably go to london.

Hard to know what factors affect where the applications get processed since Jan 1, 2016. Hopefully whatever new arrangements CIC has resulted in fasting processing time regardless.

No. Ottawa handles cases besides American applicants as well (for a while American applicants through Ottawa were looking at 8-10 months). Ottawa has recently started hiring more case processors. Processing times for this VO do tend to speed up during summer anyways.

Ottawa used to be one of the slower VO's. Real busy CPC yet seems to be upping its game right now.

Yeah. Last August I would have been expecting at least 8-10 months. It's around 5 now and 4 months or less is becoming more and more common. I hope they continue hiring more staff for this and other VOs. It will take time, but I think we're seeing the start of faster processing times overall.
