well it's safe to assume as soon as you get everything to CIC they will probably issue the visa. those are the last things needed before they can make a decision. Decision Made (DM) *usually* happens ~ 2-4 weeks after CIC receives everything requested. so the sooner they get everything, the sooner your process will be complete.

it's important to get the requested information back to cic before the due date listed on the request. not doing so can result in the application being cancelled. if the date has already passed or is close to passing because of a delay out of your cotrol, then it's best to communicate to CIC as soon as possible to let them know of the issue and you are working to get it completed.

here is a list of the acronyms.

Sorry to keep bugging you but I do have one additional question, it was posted on another forum but I guess I should stick to one place. When you say 'PPR' does that mean they request your actual passport be sent in, or, a photocopy of the bio-data page. They requested that I send another copy of my bio-data page back in October, which was sent 3 days later. But will they ask me to send the actual passport in as well?

yes, for ottawa (us citizens), Passport request (PPR) is a scanned copy of the bio page of your passport.

We got our PPR today! Just in time before new years :) :)

Congrats Mrs. KOR!

When you are issued PR, do you get a SIN immediately?

no, it is completely a separate process than landing as a pr. to get a sin # you have to go a Service Canada office in your area. If you land at an airport, there are certain terminals that have kiosks to do this at before you leave. not all airports provide this service.

Whats Outland application?

Okay, thanks. I applied as 'outland' but I have since then moved already. I am in canada on visitor visa. I'm assuming I will need to go to the closest border or airport when that time comes...?

if you are in canada when you receive your approval paper, you can drive to the border, either "flagpole" with the us (which means they just turn you around), or enter the us, then return to Canada to land. you will not be able to land at an airport unless you enter by plane.

So helpful. Thank you, very much!

Is there any point calling visa office asking status of application?

Is anyone else as discouraged as I am?...Application rec'd April 9 2014...Sponsorship approved Jun 5th, 2014 and not a word since...we have requested case notes and it looks like no one has touch the case since 25Aug2014 until I requested case notes in Dec...Hubby is American and is a Mechanical Contractor that builds Hospitals in less time then the 28 months listed on the CIC site that has not been updated since 22JUL2014( Quarterly?...I am thinking it means quarter century not yearly)....I just don't get it..I know if I had a file on my desk from August to Dec and did not touch it at the very least I would be written up...

Yes, discouraged is perhaps too mild of a term.

In this thread, as well as the May 2014 Outland and Mexico threads -basically almost everyone else on the same timeline as me- have their spouses in Canada already :'(

Applied CPC-Mississauga April 2014.
Received Sponsor Approval May 2014 (letter stated PR application for my spouse would be sent to Mexico).

ECAS:
- We received xxxxxxx's application for permanent residence on April 4, 2014.
- We started processing xxxxxxxx's application on June 20, 2014.

And that's it! Nothing else for 7 months. Stuck 'In Process'.

Medical, Police Reports, and paid Right Of PR all included. No emails or phone calls missed.

I've sent an email to Mexico but no reply. I've called directly but cannot speak with Visa staff or leave a message. I can't even contact an MP for another 10 months!!

Requested GCMS but really just for cosmetic purposes.

So yeah. Very VERY discouraging indeed.

Same my problem,,apply foR Canada in May and still in process frm 3 dec,,no change..and the people who apply almost same time with mi are Settle in Canada,,:(

Re: Who apply in May2014

hello I want to know the current status of people who apply for Canada in May 2014' reply

depends on the visa office, and if they need extra info... ect... but look at the cic website and see what the average time for your visa office.
