So it looks like the fact that we have received MRs does not mean we have passed eligibility.

Also, why would it matter if you're still employed with the same employer?

I think they are doing a background check on his employment history. Either they got a wrong information somewhere or they can't source an information regarding his employment.

Let see what the outcome will be after EPP talks to them. It is usually a mismatch between what someone's written on his application and on their background check. Contrary to what others think, background checkers usually call and do not email, unless necessary. I think this is because it is part of their process or policy in checking.

Quick question, I have yet to receive my medical request. But, my work permit is finishing in June, after it got extended last year. So, this will be four years that I've had a work status.
I read online that you can only work for four years, and can't get it extended after. What will happen if I still don't a response by then? Do I have to quit my job? And change my status to a student maybe ? Or is there a way to extend my work permit further.

Any advise would be helpful.

Generally whats the difference between 'Application Received' and 'In Process'
Myself and my friend applied on the same time but on got status as 'Application Received' and other 'In Process'. But under the status information is the same like We received your application on so and so.
So i am not getting on what basis they are giving status and whats the difference.
Can someone explain me please. Thanks

You cannot get work permit extended if you are not PR applicant...
The 4 years rule only apply if you are not PR applicant....

I believe you are PR applicant so you will get BOWP as many time as you want until you get result on your PR application...

My friend who applied PR under CEC category on fourth years in Canada. Then after, she applied for BOWP after AOR. Now, she has been working on open work permit.

I think you are good to go ahead to apply for BOWP if you have AOR.

There are axceptions for "4 years" rule:

These categories or occupations are the exceptions for which a work permit can exceed the four-year limit:

- NOC O and A (including spouses/dependants of these skilled temporary foreign workers)
- LMO-exempt jobs under
International agreements
Canadian interests
Self-support
Humanitarian reasons
-Jobs that do not need a work permit
-Permanent resident applicants who have received a positive selection decision or approval in principle
-Provincial nominees applying for an employer-specific work permit

Good question even I was thinking so many times on same questions.

I assume that applicants will get high selection of chances after medical because their status itself "in progress" on first day.
Below status indicator will occur earlier once medical is done and eligibility passed.
"In process" means "We started processing your application on "Month date"

Whereas in older CEC or before May applicants have "Application Received" Means
After medical over, VO need to get back on application again check all medical details and eligibility stuff then, they changed the status as "in progress" then after, people will get RPRF request.

As per my understanding, your idea and suggestion most welcome.

I dont see any difference unless if you are seeing same lines under that status.
Because Almost all the May 2014 applicant have status In Progress where as you can see almost all April 2014 applicants have Application Received status.

As far as you can see the line under your main application status that's good...

My take on this... that depends on the VO or whoever is updating the eCAS. In Process states in the website...

Application Received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
We have received your application and will review it in order of receipt. We will send you an acknowledgement letter.

Documentation Verified by CIC
We are reviewing your application to make sure it is complete and that no documents are missing. We will return incomplete applications for resubmission.

Medical Results Received by CIC
We have received your medical results. We will contact you only if additional tests are needed.​

So Application Received is theoretically In Process as well. There was an incident way back with the May/June applicants that their statuses were changed from initially In Process to Application Received. Don't rely too much with eCAS. They don't update it that often and sometimes they just skip to Decision Made. ;D
