Welcome jitsak!
MP is Member of Parliament they can sometimes help out if your case is running longer then usual. you can read about GCSM and how to order them here http://caips-gcms.com/notes/34-files/48-gcms . ND VO request passports at the beginning of stage 2 and holds on to them until they issue the visa, ND is posting 10 months as their processing time plus you must add your sponsorship approval time which most of us who applied in April waited 3 months so 13 months total it has been just over 7 months so an MP may not do anything for you as you are still well with-in the processing time, your GCMS notes will atleast tell you what has been done and what they are waiting before issuing your visa. Good Luck!

Hey,

Congrats again! :-) I'm also in BC, and apparently if your spouse has been a resident of BC and already covered by MSP, you can be added directly to his/her plan without the 3 months waiting period...

if your spouse's MSP coverage is still current, you can go to the website and fill out the "MSP Account Change" form, adding you as spouse (applies to common-law as well). This will give me coverage as soon as it is processed, no 3 month waiting period.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but will do next week.... (and if I don't get it, I'll try the BCAA to see what I can get...)

Good luck for the landing - there's no reason why they would refuse you though! enjoy the trip...

Wait....fill me in on this. I'll be moving to BC also (as soon as the CIC get's me a PPR) and if my husband's MSP coverage is current, I can get added to it right after moving without having to wait? Am I missing any information?

Yes, that's what I have been told. I have not tried it myself (although my partner is still a resident in BC, for whatever reason MSP seems to not be able to find him, so we're sorting this out before we try anything else), but apparently, BC waives the "3 months waiting" ( which is actually 2 full months + remaining of the month when you applied) for spouse/partners of BC residents as long as you can prove that your PR is in process, or has been granted. So even if you are there on a tourist visa, you can ask for the coverage to start, and when you get the PR as well. I will try ( as soon as my partner's coverage is confirmed!), and will report here ! but apparently it has worked for others, so that's what I have been advised to do when arriving in BC.

Ugh. I'm now wishing my husband had moved to BC before I met him instead of staying in Ontario. At some point in the past month (I stopped checking regularly after PPR), my status changed to DM. My mailing address is my parents' house, though, and I have a sick feeling in my gut that they've had my COPR for a couple weeks now and just want to give it to me in person when I fly there tomorrow. That means no landing until after Christmas, unless we shell out for an earlier flight back to Buffalo. Which means an extra month and a half with no medical coverage just so they can watch me be happy.

I hope I'm wrong, but that it does show up before Christmas.

Ottawa just got the authority to start issuing CoPRs on Nov 27 and the first DM's started showing up over the past couple days. So, your CoPR will be showing up any day now but your parents probably aren't holding back on you (yet). So far nobody in the US has received it yet - only a couple folks in Ontario. You can all be happy together 8)

Hey,

I don't know where your parents live, but if they are close to any border (land or sea), you can also land there by just flagpoling, so your coverage can kick in sooner...
Good luck, hope the COPR arrives really soon!

They live near DC, so it'd be a hell of a drive. Although I did just establish that it'd be about $200 to just not leave the airport and get back on a plane, if they bring the COPR with them when they pick me up. :-\

If I got my PPR on November 3 and sent in the copies on November 5, is it more likely that my file got transferred to LA or stayed in Ottawa until the 27th?

They might not be too happy about the plan! :-)

I have no idea, but there is both an Ottawa and a LA thread on the forum, so they might have more of a clue...
Good luck!

I think it's most likely in Ottawa since I believe (from your posting history and this post) that they asked you for a copy of your passport bio page (LA has been requesting physical passports whereas Ottawa prefers the one scanned page be submitted).

This is true... and if your waiting for mail from Ottawa it could be awhile, my husband ordered a GM key it was mailed November 19 and he didn't receive it until yesterday even tho Canada post was saying delivery was November 29th. I know it isn't from CPP-O but the mail took a long time and were just in KW it's only a 5 1/2 hr drive LOL Canada post is so slow....

I'm from Baltimore! I made this drive many many times over 13 years! it really isn't a bad drive but it is long 6 1/2 hrs from Baltimore to Buffalo another 1/2 hr to DC to bad we didn't chat before we coulda car pulled and turned right back around if they had ur CoPR... anyways Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

Hi spreadsheet manager

I got stage 2 AOR on Dec 4th.

:)

URIFiggy, I have a question :) Did you by any chance list a second country in the list of countries recently lived in? Because I'm starting to get really worried with our delay, and I'm thinking that it has something to do with them having to check with Bulgaria where I lived for the last 3 years. And if that is true and I am waiting for something to come out of a Bulgarian administration office.... well, I can just quit waiting...

Is that the case with anyone else here - US citizen recently lived somewhere else and included it in the application?
