That might be true for a small minority of people, not "many" ( if you look at the relative numbers of applications on the Cat 1 list that require high level of education, they far outnumber those from the 'trades')Advance123 said:The reason why many people are not eligible with the new tool is the IELTS.
If you apply in a profession that requires a university degree, you are expected to have a high proficiency in all categories of the IELTS while crane operators etc do not.
This is part of the review done earlier in the year to judge different professions by different standards in order to attract more people from the lower/ non academic categories.
Even if this is true, it still does not explain why applicants who are currently eligible and are being processed as such come up on the new tool as ineligible.
It is an error.
Were we to apply for Cat 2 again right now, according to the points calculator and the FSW application advice, we would still be eligible, but the tool says we would not. I entered all our data, including High proficiency in all First Official language categorie(as scored by my husband in the actual test) and obviously entered all the other data as requested which we used to apply initially for our FSW Cat2 and yet we came out as being ineligible.
There has been no change in allocation of points which would have changed our points score from the time we originally applied to present day, the required score hasn't changed and our job offer situation as Cat 2 is still a viable route now.
There is a whole list of applicants on the British Expats Immigration forum; some Cat 1 and some Cat 2, all native English speakers and whose proficiency in the Official language of English is high who have all been accepted as eligible recently for FSW have tried the new tool and come out as ineligible. IELTS score has no part these people's situation at all.
The new tool is not working in that it is not correctly advising potential applicants on their eligibility for immigration as FSW and so, until it is fixed, I would advise people to use the points calculator and the FSW information pages to assess their eligibility instead.
It would be very sad if someone who was eligible was told otherwise by this tool and was put off from making an application.
I am sure that they will iron out these problems in a little while and then it will be fine. I noticed that there were problems with some of the PNP links and also the page to post comments on the tool were not accessible when I tried (repeatedly ) to use it. Maybe once thy sort that out, the feedback will alert them to the issues.
