Afterglow; you said here that you filed your application on 30th April... but in the spreadsheet you wrote 20th April. Please correct accordingly.

last year ki september session wali spreadsheet jo TS nay upload ki hai woh daikho yaar ussmain masters k applicants daikho toe you will notice k aik banday nay 9 april ko aply kiya and medical phlay aaya ussko jabkay dooosry nay b same date pay apply kiya par ussko late aaya medical. issi tarah aik banday nay phd main apply kiya april main and medical ussko june main aaya so yaaara june main hamain in shaaa Allah medicals aajayen gay..... its good k hmny jaldi apply kar diya hai parrr yaaara we will have to be relaxed and easy............. jo ho ga daikha jaye ga yaar

Hi everyone,

I have few concerns regarding financial/bank statements. Hope someone on the forum can give me a suggestion.

I got admitted in U of Alberta for Ph.D. program for fall 2013. I have the funding for first year worth $23,000 in the form of scholarship. For subsequent years funding is subjected to my performance and availability of funds. This is the standard way of funding offer. My annual approx. fee for the first year $7973. My program of study is for 4 years and for next years fee will be less, as I wont have to go through the course work.

I placed the online visa application fee on 1 June, 2013 and showed only my scholarship letter as my financial proof. But today (6th of June, 2013) I got a message from CIC stating that - my scholarship is not enough to support my application I need to provide bank statements, as well.

Under current situation can someone tell me how much amount I need to show under my bank statements? Do I need to show the finance for whole duration of period i.e. for 4 years? As at first, I was thinking that study permit is issued for 1 year and then have to renew it for next years. If that is the case, then my scholarship letter should be sufficient.

Hi Shaz133,

This is slightly odd request as per my knowledge i.e. in my opinion the scholarship should be sufficient to support your individual cost of living (assuming you aren't applying for a family whose bare minimum support requirements might be higher. I am not sure why they did ask for this but there is one possible reason that i know of and thought of letting you know.

For instance, in my case i had a job offer for a much better annual salary (naturally being an experienced software professional) with confirmed offer letter and LMO stating the salary too. I was advised to write the same annual salary in the field of 'available funds for support of my children's education' (in my children's temp resident visa application forms).

However, i still need to attach my bank statements (although NO requirement of big available funds). But rather showing PROOF of my profile i.e. the salary i am getting in my home country, pay slips etc. These things support proving i am the person with these credentials who is worthy of compensation x even in my home country. This helps making the case appear more genuine and it is harder for some one to fake all of this. (Say a friend registers a fake company there, gets an LMO listing a large salary. Still showing that the person they are bringing is worth something in home country would be tough and at least an additional requirement).

The above is just an opinion. I by no means am sure of CIC's intensions asking for proof of funds. All i am saying is that one does not require "bank statement showing enough money for expenses in case of temp work permit".
