Dude, stop victimizing yourself. You, above all, made a mistake on your application. You had the option to send everything correct but you chose not to. They may have or may have not made a mistake on your evaluation. THE THING IS, it doesn't matter, you got rejected and now you have two options, you either hire a lawyer and appeal formally or you send a new application. BEING FRUSTRATED will not help anyone, it will not make your application be magically approved and will not make you happy.
Well, by saying frustrated, I didn't mean I sit aside and do nothing. I prepared my new application and will send it on Monday.
We PhDs are hardworking people, otherwise we would've not been here.
The annoying thing is their unfairness and inconsistency.
But as you said, we don't have any option but to try again and again.

And that's what we do more than anyone else right? We persevere despite the unfairness, injustice, inconsistency and all the bad things that happens to us?
Good luck with your applications this time. I'm confident things will go faster and be less annoying this time around.

How did you do that ?
Just take your original receipt, from where you had lab tests, to the place you normally claim medical expenses (there is an office for that in my university), they will have you fill a form and you will wait for a check from the insurance company. (They did not ask but it is better not to mention that it was for immigration)

Aidina, there is nothing personal in the notes. I have my self benefited immensely from this forum and so happy to be able to answer queries for others. And even if one person can benefit from this information, then its completely worth it.

Sydney and Ottawa offices have created separate notes under the main "NOTES" section.

Sydney office has basically said that I qualily and that I have not received any scholarship from Govt. of Canada..and that i appear to have minimum work exp required..letter of ref not verified..required language test on file..if awarded and adaptabiliy points, then information not verified and that I appear to have 67 or more points on the selection grid.

Ottawa office has simply listed all the documents that I sent them at the end of Jan along with their expiry date (for the PCC's that I sent)

Thanks
Did Ottawa put the note at the end of January, right after you e-mailed them? How do they call your 2nd letter in the note? Sorry for all these questions, I am in the same boat and little bit anxious :). I have ordered my CAIPS to see if they have considered mine as well or not.

Hi all,

I have received PER on Jan 27, and this week I received document request only for police certificate, I was having doubts on my work experience letters, will that means i passed all the eligibility? Any opinion is appreciated,

Cheers

Better not to guess anything. They might have change their process of accessing applications. All recent applicants close to yours get their document request early. Let see. GOOD LUCK ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi all,

as I was expecting, my application was rejected based on non correspondance of the NOC code.

It frustrates me IMMENSELY, as my supervisor did everything to make what I did clear, and I feel
like I should have sent them a letter when I started to have doubts about this.

I won't provide the letter of rejection here, as it is in French, but someone here got the exact same one
in english not so long ago.

Sorry to hear that. You should re-apply as soon as possible. They're going to make some changes into FSW soon.

You should re-apply soon by updating your reference letters. Just make sure that you do not contradict what you said in your first letters. When one is rejected, he can not do much, unfortunately. BTW, RA/TA experience (if in total 38 hrs/week or more and at least for one continuous year) is enough. Make sure you include all the wanted information: hours worked, length of employment, duties (they must match those listed under the NOC code), and a little bit of information about your field of work would not hurt.
Thanks very much Aidina! I sent an inquiry to OttPilot to make the picture clearer, as I couldn't understand why they refused one of the two experiences I had, they said that the letter of reference contained just one duty for TA! While they did accept the 9 months as an Assistant lecturer, which it was the latest job for me in my homeland.
I think I should provide them with more details about my first job as a TA. Hopefully the reference letter would better!

I've worked as a RA/TA for 10 semesters exactly, but I believe that I can not claim having a full time RA/TA, how can I be a full time student and a full time RA/TA in the same time?!
I know that my total income should be greater or equal to the minimum wage X number of hours, but I am not sure what is the minimum wage for RA. So would you please tell me that, some say 20 others say 10.5!!

Thanks again Aidina!

Not happening. I'm tired of being pushed around and spending that much money for nothing; the letter was very clear that my duties were ones of a biologist and not of a teaching assistant.
I'm thinking if I try, I'll use the CEC stream, and I'll be the accompanying spouse OR my husband will try to get sponsored.

The worst part is that this whole ordeal makes me enjoy Canada LESS.
In addition, we now have a daughter who's Canadian, who might never be able to grow up in the country she was born in, which is something I really wanted to give her. Well, maybe she'll grow up in my country, at least we have better food there.

Anyway. I've been having conversations with my husband regarding what I read on this forum every day: his answers, almost right from when we started noticing a very high rate of rejections, was that they opened the stream and now are backpedaling. I think he's actually pretty close to the truth.

They have in no way tried to understand what a PhD is, but still opened a stream for it; I think EVERY PhD should actually apply with the NOC code that corresponds to their field, it makes much more sense, but whatever.

Proof: they told me in my rejection letter that "I CHOSE not to provide reference letters from my "work experience" of Bsc and MSc". Well, guess what? These were NOT work experience, and I had already sent them a letter to that effect A YEAR AGO, as it is after receiving that letter that they granted me PER.
On the form, there is no where to put your studies when you apply for FSW, so I put my "activities during the last 10 years", which were BSc, Msc, etc...under that, and precised that it was full time studies.

And they still mention that this is WORK, although I gave all the documents necessary to show them it was not.

I think they should have a proper form for PhD streamers, where you put activities, and you can precise if it is STUDIES or WORK.

All I can say is that I don't have time to put that much effort, time, and money into this again.

At least I applied for a Post Grad Work Permit; if this one gets rejected, I'll be flying back home; if I get it, hopefully I can put this to rest and just work for the next couple of years and MAYBE reapply when I am less mad at them.

You can claim your RA/TA as a full time work experience. For example, My reference letter claimed 10.5 hrs/week for my TA and 37 hrs/week for my RA. In total, they are a full time work experience.

I'm sorry to hear of your rejection. I think you should reconsider and try again. However I disagree with you. The work you do during your Studies is not the same as the work you would do in real life, at least in CIC's eyes. IF you work as a RA, as most phd's do, that is what you have to put, even though your work is in practice the work of a biologist. The same way, my work as a RA is basically programming, but I should adapt my duties so it fits the RA, as that is the title of the position, not programmer. I think you should try again. Give it a week or two, I understand that is hard to take a rejection like this, but you should give it a try again. Maybe CEC Is a better faster option, but will take even more time, as you have to gain the experience after you graduate.

And I agree, they are backpedaling. I think they don't quite know what to do with this stream, the same way they didn't know what to do with the FSW 3 in 2009. I would not be surprise to discovery that the rejection % is greater than 50%. I see a immigration application as a paper for a lay man. You have to be as scientific and persuasive as possible, but understand he will not know anything about you work and barely understand what you say. YET, you have to make him believe what you say is true. So you have to adapt your work to fit his misconceptions.

Take it easy for the sake of your daughter and your future. :)
