On Jan 20th, my first application just got rejected because of work experience. I updated it five months ago but they rejected my application. Do you have any advise? Is it possible now?

"I am not satisfied that you meet these requirements. With the exception of your work experience as a Teaching Assistant from September 2009 to April 2010, your letters of reference from your employers did not list job duties or responsibilities that match the actions described in the lead statement and a substantial number of the main duties described in the NOC codes you selected. As such, you failed to demonstrate that your periods of work experience met the requirements listed above."

I don't quite understand your case. It seems that you applied twice (November 2012 and May 2013). It seems that the main issue is the work experience letters. It will be difficult to give any kind of advice without knowing what you have written in those letters. Do provide additional info so that people in this thread can try to help. Check out the successful reference letter examples (http://goo.gl/47qIZF) and compare them against your letters to see what you might have missed. Also, make sure the lead statement mentioned in the NOC is there in your letters. The duties and responsibilities in the letters should match a significant number of those mentioned for the NOC (but should not be exactly identical).

Thank you for your kind reply.
I applied on NOv 2012 and I noticed that applications are being rejected for the work experience letters. Then I updated all my work experience letters as we agreed upon in the forum. But the officer did not consider this update. The officer did not consider any previous work experience from back home ( 2 years or so). The officer did not consider my research assistance experience as well. If my file is big and the officer is lazy to get into all the documents and check out the updated letters, it can be a problem. Otherwise, if the officer reviewed the new letters, why he/she did not consider it.

If there is a way to let them know that I have updated experience letters, that would be a good step for now. But how? Is there a way to send them to request that?

"Subsection 75(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations states that a foreign national is a skilled worker if:
a) within ten years preceding the date of their application for a permanent resident visa, they have at least one year of continuous full-time employment (37.5 hours/week) experience, or the equivalent in continuous part-time employment in one or more occupations, other than a restricted occupation, that are listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;
b) during that period of employment they performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification; and
c) during that period of employment they performed a substantial number of the main duties of the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, including all of the essential duties."

Again, I have no idea what you mentioned in your letters. But if you are sure that your letters are complete and meet all the requirements, then you can appeal or contact your local MP and explain why you believe the rejection is unjustified. But that should be done within a certain period from receiving the rejection. As for letters you get from back home, I really don't know how reliable they can be. As you have seen from the numerous rejections we have had in this thread, CIC officers follow the OP manuals to the letter. If your letters are missing lead statements, work hours, pay, duties, or do not match the corresponding NOC description for that job, they will reject it. As for the research assistantship, if you followed the general guidelines that we learned in this thread, then I don't see any reason why they should reject its reference letter.

could you please show us the content of each of your letters as well as the NOC description that goes with each of them? We may find what was missing.
Also, I believe aidina was in the same situation and managed to get the situation revised (it took a while, but they reopened the case).

My old exp. letters were not good but the updated letters just copy and paste from the NOC description including the leading statement and duties. They include full time or part time, hours and salary, starting and ending dates. I can share them with you.

1) Did Aidina depend on the MP?

2) Will the next step be in contact with the MP?

3) How can I find more information in the appeal process?

4) What is the best thing to do the appeal or to contact the MP or go in both?

I never contacted the MP. I just sent them an e-mail without complaining. Just said I am wondering wether the officer considered my updated letter or not, and after 3 weeks got the message that they have never received my letter, and so on.

Then do share the letters you've sent that were rejected (after removing any personal or sensitive information) so that we can figure out if something was wrong or missing.

Sorry to hear the rejection, Salam20.

Just suggesting that if you can take a look on your recent GCMS notes to see if there was any indication of receiving your updated letters ( may be in the NOTE section at the end of the Doc).

Seniors please advice on this.

I had completed 2 years PhD study when I submitted my PR application in Jan. 2013. I didn't provide to them any offer letter other than the letter from my advisor. In this letter, it did mention that I will graduate in Summer 2014. The following is the letter from my advisor.

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to confirm that Mr. XXX is a Ph.D. student in the Department of XXX at XXX University. He entered the Ph.D. program in January 2011. Since January 3, 2011, Mr. XXX has been working as a full-time Research Assistant (40 Hours/Week) in XXX laboratory under my direction. He assists me in three research projects and his main duties are:

(1) Conducting literature reviews, surveys in the field of XXX.
(2) Designing and conducting laboratory experiments to test XXX. Designing and simulating XXX (add your own projects and experiments description here).
(3) Assisting the professor to compile and analyze the experimental results.
(4) Preparing journal articles and papers to publish the experimental results.
(5) Assist the professor to supervise undergraduate summer research students.

His total annual salary is $XXX plus tuition benefits (waiving the differential fees for international students). He will continue to work as a Research Assistant until his graduation, which is expected in Summer 2014.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours Sincerely,

Advisor name/title/contact info.
Elaborate more on details and what you did. I think this letter can be a lot better.

You should check it in your GCMS. There you can see what they checked. I had a similar case and I'm still in doubt whether they considered my updated letters. But that was old days when PhD stream was new and so many annoying rules caused many refusals. Things are much better these days, and it seems they consider updated letters. Check your GCMS and appeal if there is no track of your updated letters there.

The letter above suggested that it was written by the applicant and singed by supervisor. It says "Assisting the professor ..." If it was written by the supervisor s/he will say "Assisting me" or Assissting in .."
Furthermore, you mentioned that you worked 40hrs/week. This is might over estimated as you are a full time student!!! So, you kill your letter here as there is no logic.
The case office may did not liked this tone in the language and the over estimated hrs. He might came with a conclusion that he is not satisfied.

If I'm not mistaken, OP's letter was actually accepted by the visa office and his/her application was approved under the CEC Class !!!. Apparently, he/she also used this letter to demonstrate the intention of leaving Quebec

Please go back and check previous posts before you pass any judgements.

I did my landing today. Everything was OK and the officer didn't ask any question.
Regarding the error in original entry date on my COPR, I told the officer and showed the stamp on my passport as the proof. The officer told that she has corrected the error on their system.

Thanks everyone for the help. Hopefully everyone in the forum gets the PR soon.

Thank you again for your advice.

I will post my work exp. letters as you requested.

I sent to the cic the following:
"I wonder if you considered my updated work experience letters that I sent via email and mail few months ago, in June and July, 2013."
I expect that the cic will reply within a month or so, as aidina got his reply.

Today, I ordered two CAIPS for the two applications of Nov 12 and May 13 to see what happened exactly.

I reviewed the emails that I got from the cic. One of them was on July, it confirms that the cic received the following:
-Letter from PA
-Proof of Funds
-Birth Certificate
-Medical Report
-Study Permit
-Copy of passport
-CV
-POE
(I do not know what PoE is).

I have the following options now:
1) to wait and hear from them
2) to see the process of appealing
3) to see the MP
4) to focus on the second application

What should I do next?
