Hello po sa mga nagsi-search pa lang ng mapapasukan.

In case po you want to study and take this opportunity as a stepping stone to stay sa Canada for good, advice ko lang sa aspirants na sa university po kayo mag-enroll instead of college or institutes. Iba iba pala ang distinction nila dito ng "university, college and institute" (di ko to nabasa through backreading).

First, sa Canadian culture pala ay mas prestigious sa kanila pag university ka graduate kesa sa college or institute. Sa atin kasi parang pareho lang college at university pero dito sa North America, university is more bongga and may dating sa resume (e.g. Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Oxford University, Cambridge University).

College is more maliit na unit (for example, sa Pinas, College of Saint Benilde versus De La Salle University). Ang institute naman ay more on short courses or particular skills. A university is composed of colleges so smaller unit ang college.

So kung may plan po kayo mag-aral ng mahabaan din lang, look for Universities para mas maganda sa resume pag naghahanap na kayo ng work. Hindi ko naman sinasabi na nila-"lang" lang ang mga college and institutes pero for example, Canadian employer ka and may dalawang pagpipilian - isang graduate sa university for Business Admin versus isang graduate sa college/institute for a Business course, mas pipiliin nila ung galing sa Uni versus sa isa (or maybe offered higher).

Kung may degree na kayo sa Pinas, meron naman tinatawag na "Recognition of Prior Learning" dito sa Canada, meaning, i-aassess nila yung pinag aralan nyong degree sa Pinas, then iko-compute kung ilang units pa ang kulang mo to get a degree in the Canadian university (therefore hindi full 4 years or 3 years tuition ang babayaran mo). Ang sample ng mga gantong assessors ay IQAS in Alberta (google it).

Anyway, friendly advice lang po. I just learned this kasi I'm taking a short French course dito sa Canada and mga kaklase ko is local Canadians and sa kanila ko natutunan na ganun pala impressions nila sa mga university/college/institute.

Pero kung babalik naman kayo sa Pinas after studies then ok din lang. Sakin lang is, magbabayad ka na lang din ng mas mahal, pay it sa mas worth it na. Habol po sa fall term - abot pa :)

Good luck all!

Congrats sa mga may passport requests!!

I would like my to put my two cents on this one.
Prestige from a university doesn't guarantee you a job.
Specially sa mga technical aspect, like engineers, nurses and such.
They want to hire people who they can use right away.
I will use one example.
My brother is a Practical nurse, a diploma from a 2 year course. He told me the difference between him and a Registered nurse is basically he is not eligible to press a button of some certain machine. Their HR are thinking of either hiring him or the RN. RN gets paid more so he landed the job. In reality people want to pay less to keep the company going. RN gets paid more but PN have higher chance of landing a job.

My point is getting an education is not the "Golden ticket" of the international student in the immigration world. Not since 2015.
The golden ticket now is that LMIA provided for you. The LMIA that you will receive that will basically bump you 600 points plus, that will land you an ITA (Invitation to apply). As of yet I haven't meet anyone who is only in Canada to study and have no interest in migrating.

Kung may degree ka pinas at kukunin mo degree rito na same lang I will say good luck in explaining that to the Visa Officer.

Sa example mo ng Canadian employer I will assume these are large companies.
Large companies rarely issue LMIA because of the cap implemented. On their workforce they can only hire 10% as foreign worker.
However small company of less than 10 people has no cap.
If you are from a small company will you hire these university grad?
Can your company afford these grads?
Most probably they will hire you with the same wage as a college grad.

On Express entry - FSWC bachelor degree and any post secondary education will grant you 12 points. You will get 23 is you did masters and 25 for PhD.

If you have been job hunting for position here in Canada I will tell you a juicy information. You may have a good looking resume but most of the time they will hire you for networking. Good education = good resume doesn't necessarily mean you will land a job. I suggest to everyone that you have a good connection. Connection > resume. Join your school activity like meeting with the school alumni. Make a good impression.

Just to be fair and look at it from the other side. If you ever become a university grad, I will tell you your advantage.
You found a job that requires a university degree. Then it will be easy for your employer to to get you an LMIA since it requires a university degree.

Thats all I can say for now.
If anyone wants to add their few cents please feel free to do so.
This is a good debate and decision making information to aspiring Filipinos who want to successfully migrate to Canada.

Parang yung narinig ko naguusap na puti sa c-train, workers sila, sabi why spend more money and time in *insert university* when you can finish *insert course* at *insert college* 2x faster and cheaper, it's almost the same course sabi and when you both work you will have the same job and salary. Parang sa oil industry ata pinaguusapan nila.

Speaking of connection, yung mga business dito parang racist, kung ano lahi ng owner ng business almost lahat ng employee ganun din lahi, eg. T&T store halos puro intsik hahaha

1 way ticket cost about $1,000 if you book early its probably lower.
You only need 1 way ticket. basta makarating ka lang sa port of entry. Di ka naman nila hihingan ng ticket back home.
thank you very much for the very quick reply kapatid.

question po pala ulit.. how about po pala the proof of funds, do we need to bring an updated copy of bank statement(s)? financial documents submitted were dated feb pa po, visa was approved april 4, then leaving for canada last week july. Thanks po ulit in advance :)

Wow. this is very informative... medyo na down ako ng konti nung nabasa ko mas malaki ung chance pag grad ka sa university... sa college kasi aco ma study sa canada..ang mahal kasi sa university... lalo na sa nursing... kaya sa college ako nag try... parang caregiver/nursing aid ung napasukan ko.... mukhang okei nman kasi in-demand nman ung mga ganung course sa place ko lalo na sa nursing homes... salamat po!...

Dapat dala mo ang pera mo. Yung magagamit mo agad. Bank draft or managers cheque.
Kung more than 10,000 worth you have to declare it.
