For approximately six weeks, starting the week of May 9, 2016, additional dedicated staff joined employees and partner organizations already working in the Middle East to process these applications. After this “blitz” period, mission staff in the Middle East will continue to process private sponsorship applications and finalize cases when ready.
By June 20, nearly 6,100 interviews of privately sponsored refugees have been completed. These refugees will continue through the screening process overseas, which includes full health and security screening. It will take approximately three to six months from the interview for refugees to complete the rest of the process and arrive in Canada. Some families are already arriving and others will continue to arrive over the coming months.
another possible reason as to why some of the overseas VOs (namely LVO) have been so quiet since may. god damn 6100 interviews within six weeks. mccallum was asked exactly how many staff were reassigned, but he dodged that question saying he didn't have an official figure at the time. the reason they sent them back is because there was an "uproar" amongst private refugee sponsors when the government announced they were closing down the temporary refugee processing centers after having achieved their goal of 25k. i love how these people got so hot and bothered over refugees, all the while giving exactly zero f**ks about our wives, husbands, and children.
all staff that were temporarily reassigned are supposedly back at their permanent posts in their respective VOs. let's see where things take us from here...
