ohhh!!!ı am chrıstıan and marrıed to a muslım too...we wıll have same problem?:(ıs there a lınk or somethıng provıng what the offıcer told?thıs looks really strange whıle Canada ıs a multınatıonal country they dont have any kond of racısm or taboos...

That's just ridiculous... did you ask the officer to show you policy stating that(politely ofcourse)? Anyway, good thing you have a chance at appeal to overturn the negative decision. Are you going for ADR or full hearing?

Since you know age gap and religion were the big issues - try to work on how to overcome this. Do you have friends, family who have married outside their religion, have age gaps? Have you guys taken steps to learn about each other's religion and culture? Do you either of you plan to convert and when? If not, how do you plan to find middle ground?

Did you address the age gap and religion when you initially applied? If not, that may have worked against you guys because it was now left to the officer to draw his/her own conclusions and make assumptions which were not in your favor.

I have all the CAIPS notes and will bring all my paper work with me to the IAD and see what the say..i have many friends and my parents and my son who all support us and also his family and friends the also support us and know its a real marriage..my husband and I were in a relationship for 1 year and got married its been almost 3 years we been married and we started sponsorship last year 2013 so we waited for almost 3 years to do the sponsorship cause my husband was in law school ..so we were not in a big hurry like the said in our CAIPS the officer lied a lot ...

Hi everyone I just received a letter from Immigration and refugee board of Canada that on July 2 I have a app at the IAD ,I was just won dering who all had a IAD before in Vancouver ?? and what to expect ..what the best thing is to bring for even more proof and also who had success winning appeal..thank you

Hello Mrs Selim i know that Habibti had to go to appeal in Vancouver. But she had to go to full hearing and they won. Also, in Vancouver. She used immigration consultant and said she was really good. Maybe she can give you the details if you contact her. I have an interview on June 20th and my red flags are similar to yours. Although i dont have enough time to order the notes i can imagine those issues will be a problem.

Mrs. Malek, you will get the letter as you are the sponsor. It may take them several weeks to get the letter to you. Once you get the letter, there are instructions on how to proceed including a form for you to sign indicating that you intend to appeal. If you are to appeal, sign the letter and get yourself an immigration consultant or lawyer and be prepared to wait for another year before you get any information on whether Canadian immigration will permit you a short hearing (Alternate Dispute Resolution or ADR) or request a full day hearing.

Good luck.

Mrs. Selim, the Canadian Immigration is quite tough on interfaith marriages. You might be best to refer to yourself a non-Muslim instead of referring to yourself a christian. My father-in-law was a christian who married a muslim woman. She later became a born-again Christ follower. If she had been a born-again Christ follower, she would have known that biblically it is considered wrong for a born-again Christ follower to marry anyone but another born-again Christ follower.

Does that make sense? It could be why they are harping on this so much.

Rathika and Hina, I would really love to hear about what happened during your appeal hearings! My husband and I are headed to a full day of hearing in late August. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.
