Hi All

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this (If not please let me know where to post this.)

I got the email for COPR and sent my passport to CANADA. I want to know:

1.) What is the landing process. Currently I am in USA (on WORK VISA), can I take a flight to any airport in CANADA or I need to go for any particular port of entry?. What all documents should I carry and what all questions will be asked at port of entry.

2.) I don't have any job offer in CANADA. Once I reached I need to search the job. Will it affect anything. How do I notify CIC about my address (Once I take any apartment on rent) so CIC can send the PR CARD.

3.) Once enter in CANADA can I come back to USA (as I have work permit) before getting the PR CARD (In case of any urgent situation and I have to return back). Let's say I enter in CANADA and be there for a week or so and return back to USA or India and I update my friend address in CIC to send the PR CARD. Will that work or is there a minimum duration that I need to stay.

Thanks in advance for your help.

forgot to say, congratulations !!

You can come back but you can't re enter Canada without or card or you need to fill a form and send it to get a stamp again on your passport

People can "again" enter through USA border by just showing COPR. No need to get PRTD at USA-Canada Border.

you mean ground ??

Because I read at airports you need it

Because for someone like me, I can do that because i am in detroit and windsor is just 2 min drive, but for someone in california to access Canada through a border that would be hard, must fly

Apologies. I did not realize that OP wanted to take Flight. Yes , for Flight PR Card or PRTD will be required but if traveling via USA-Canada land border COPR will work.

Any port of entry, all the documents you sent/uploaded, list of items u have with you and a list of items you will bring in later.

There is an online Link to update ur address after landing.

Your friend can send you the or card and you can re enter

I don't know how much time but if you stay away from Canada for too long they can deny you entry

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Shereef, thanks much for your help

Hi MaxDR,

I am assuming this question was addressed to me since I am the only one here with AOR date closed to yours and paper based applicant. To answer your question, no, I havent received medical yet or for that matter any communication from cic. Are you applying from USA?

Hi,
I also live in Detroit. My husband and I have got ITA in Feb 2017. I have few questions.
Did you get your medical done from Dr. Ronald Sherman? And how does the medical result gets uploaded?
Do we have to contact hospital lab? or they automatically upload the results ?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

I came in november and my AOR was in September, so I did all that in my home country, but one thing I can answer is that everything is uploaded directly to CIC you should call the lab to get some kind of sense how the results were and the doctor too, but whether they say anything about the result is at their discretion

Questions
Can I do my ECA just for my masters ? Is there anyone here who did that ?
My stamping expires in August but my 797 is valid through April 2018. Can I travel to Canada between Aug 2017 and Apr 2018 with out stamping ?

Thank You.

Hello everyone !

Thanks,

Hello guys, fellow H1b holder here. I just entered the pool at 444, so hoping to get an ITA soon. I'm still unsure about whether to move or not. With the current political environment, it is safe to have an option.
I'm in NJ currently, anyone around here from NJ? I'm working in a Pharma company..

444 seems like the next draw will take you they are currently at 415, the salaries there in Canada is lower but no health insurance to pay, and you will get citizenship faster there because you will have PR, so I think it's better but I didn't try myself so i could be wrong

You're right. There may be some disadvantage financially, due to high taxes, lower salary, etc. Plus the weather is bit worse, compared to NJ. On the pro side, I am assuming better quality of life, with covered health care, freedom to work what/where/when we want, business opportunity etc. The biggest benefit is we don't have a knife hanging over our head and threaten our legal status in the US, every time we travel internationally, or file for H1b amendment/extension/transfer. My priority date for GC is in 2015, so I'm thinking minimum 5 years, realistically 7-9 years to get the GC from now on.
