If your eligibility says request interview, then you will have to wait for further instructions from IRCC. The interviewer are held at your local visa office. Due to COVID most interviews are now being done over the phone or scrapped completely.

Only after the eligibility is passed, will your security start.

Thank you for your response. I find it puzzling though that the recommend interview is till there. My first gcms notes had it and this one has it as well. Since my first gcms, IRCC has written to my employers to verify my employment and I have received two ghost updates. Could you please shed more light on why this is so? and why the updates whatever they maybe are not reflecting in the gcms. The recommend interview comments and note 6 comments are comments made by the case processing agent when my file was received in Decembr 2019. Sorry for the long post.

If there was a verification by IRCC regarding your employment, then IRCC can call you in for an interview. The interview is just to cross check the response and the documents. You can search the forum for applicants who have provided their experience about the interview.

The reason why an application is called for an interview is always redacted until the interview is done.

If you see more updates that are not reflected in your GCMS notes, then you should call IRCC or send a webform.

Yes this is normal and no need to be concerned. After the verifications take place, the note are entered later and in some cases if they have been entered, they may be redacted.

If your security says it is not started, then most likely your eligibility is not conclusively passed. To see how it should look like, you can see my previous post available at #2,521

The BGC comprises of criminality and security. The criminality is usually done early in the processing of your application along with R10 unless your biometrics is pending or a PCC is pending. To read on stages of an application see https://bit.ly/3jllWCg

The security usually is initiated after eligibility is passed and is the last stage, and for most it takes 3-5 weeks. However, if an applicant is stuck in enhanced security screening it can take a very long time.

To read on security and the security screening manual see https://bit.ly/2HduZIL

One way to keep a check is that your BGC status in your MyCIC account will change twice during the progress. This is an indication that first the criminality was in progress, and then the security.

Hope this helps!

Hi @legalfalcon thank you for this thread. I am hoping to order GCMS notes this month. I am 67 days post-AOR and I know that R10 got done a long time back. As per the IRCC call centre agent, my eligibility has still not started. However, my file has constantly moved from CIO to CPC-O to Montreal VO to Hamilton VO over the past month, with no other changes that I know of.

I have some questions, please:
1) Is answering yes to stat questions (US visa refusal) always going to result in RR?
2) Is it possible that the initial stage of eligibility which is done by a Program Assistant / Case Analyst may have been started at one of the offices to which my file was moved, but the IRCC call centre agent is not able to view this until an officer review is started?
3) Is it totally pointless ordering GCMS before eligibility has started?

Please share some insights.

1. YEs, if you answered yes to a stat question, the reason and the questions you answered yes to will have to be reviewed. It could be a prior visa refusal, criminality, etc. So the RR only signifies that this has been marked for an officer to be looked into carefully,

2. Yes, the call centre agents can only see some parts of the GCMS notes on the system. They do not see the details. So it is quite possible. Many applicants who receive the GCMS notes even though under assessments on page 2 it may say not started, but they may still have a CPA or analyst note on eligibility.

3. YEs. Here is my old post on this, reposting it again:

When to order GCMS notes?
The GCMS refers to the program called Global Case Management System (GCMS) used by IRCC that holds the entire processing record of your application, including the the notes pertaining to eligibility by an officer evaluating your file.

All applications go through the following stages:

R10
Medicals
Criminality
Eligibility
Security

R10 or the completeness check is the first stage of the processing, wherein it is verified that your application is complete and all documents are submitted. Filing a complete application is the responsibility of the application, and if a document is missing, a reason and an exemption request should be filed.

If an application is incomplete, it will be rejected. R10 usually happens within 30-45 days of filing your application, around the time when medicals are passed. The exact date will be available in your GCMS notes.

There is no point requesting GCMS notes at this stage, since if your application is incomplete, it will be rejected anyway, and for the medicals, the MyCIC account does inform you of when your meds are passed.

GCMS notes become important only for the eligibility stage, which does not start until 3-4 months. Eligibility takes place in 2 stages. First a case assistant or an analyst will review and make a recommendation. This is then reviewed by an officer who makes the final decision on the eligibility. Since each document you submitted has to be reviewed twice, this is the most time consuming stage.

Only for this stage are the GCMS notes relevant.

While GCMS is a great tool, use it sparingly and only after 3-4 months have expired.

Dear @legalfalcon:
thank you for your continous info sharing and support. can you advice if there is any impact if a NOC and job title is changed before getting nominated by a province. reason is that I opened my file and highlighted my primary NOC and title as " assistant account (1221) before the ITA, which i changed to Finance officer (1311) ,few months before the invitation from Alberta and I was selected on the same (1311). Same is highlighted in the GCMS activity, but not in the notes (there is nothing mentioned regarding the job in the notes as of now) therefore, just wana know if this would impact negatively on the application, even though the program analayst has passed me in the eligibility.

thank you

Did you change your NOC in your IRCC profile too? Did you make it as your primary NOC.

Hello,
is your employer in Canada or outside Canada, and did they contact them by call or email?

My employer is yet to be contacted. I've asked them to watch out for an email or call from IRCC.
