I think it depends on what level of education too. All the foreign students from my post grad school at Uoft (and at York uni and Ryerson from who I know) are sitting at 500-510 if married and 530-540 if single. Of course like you, my evidence is purely anecdotal and exceptional english scores and foreign/canadian workex is a given, but it just goes to show its hard to paint all international students in the same brush. The spectrum is quite wide even if it they are a minority the pool. Question is does this push the average higher or LMIA points dropping means net effect is zero.newbutterfly said:This assumption is very incorrect. Most international students are within the 440 to 460 range. Only about 15% of international students have scores between 470 and above. Having a near perfect English score is not as easy as you guys think considering the fact that most international students are immigrants who do not have English as their native language. I am an international student and I am talking based on the scores of most of my friends. Very few of us are actually going the express entry route as contacting home based employers to get reference letters is proving to be a herculean task. Majority of us are relying on PNP for provinces that consider Canadian degrees as a route to PR.
New students graduate at different times a year depending on programs and/or when they complete the mandatory 1 year of work experience. So new ones joining the pool always. To add to add to your point, it will all normalize after 1-2 draws anyway.ashwinbavdekar said:But what you don't understand here is CRS 540/510 minus the 30 max points for education still comes up to 480 and have already received an ita as the crs scored had already cleared everyone above 470 and hence there might not be many 510/540ers waiting for this Draw
With PNP cutoff at 786, candidates with just 186 points got invites. I am very curious to see the effect of LMIA point reduction. That is an insane drop. People who were sitting comfortable at 600-800 points must be terribly upset right now. 600 to a mere 50 is nuts.ashwinbavdekar said:And hence my hope for a reasonable CRS score still holds strong I really hope it comes to 476 soon...just giving myself more reasons to hang on.
No idea buddy, but I suppose it should not be an issue? CEC does not ask for you to have a job at the moment, just that you should have at least a year of experience in Canada in those job codes. You should be okay - i mean, you could be on a long vacation or sabbatical from work. On the other hand, if it were a PNP application, i can see the problem as they want you to show intent to be in the province and contribute to its economy. Not so in CEC.ashwinbavdekar said:Heya life any advice on this problem I'm stuck with. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/shall-i-process-inland-or-outland-t464978.0.html
"Normalise after one or two draws" .....,meaning CRS point drops to what? Crs 467.....any hope soonlifein360 said:New students graduate at different times a year depending on programs and/or when they complete the mandatory 1 year of work experience. As I said in another thread, LMIA going from 600 to 50 > or < student scores shooting 15-30 points? Even if LMIA applicants are lesser, the effect is more significant, so my feeling is cutoff will lower.
I think this is a very good point. Prior to these changes, LMIA people were evenly distributed throughout the year, so there was somewhat predictable trends in cutoff. Students on the other hand, since they graduate during certain times, might cause sudden bursts when the scores gets pushed up.lifein360 said:New students graduate at different times a year depending on programs and/or when they complete the mandatory 1 year of work experience.
