char bonel and kyle,

i didnt know that an extra sheet for job description is needed. i am doing this FSW on my own. I dont have a immigrant consultant nor an agency. I am cutting cost too.

Kyle,

i hope my papers will not be denied. Anyway i read in the blog that NS submission is just an initial application. Your full application will be submitted to the nearest Canadian office here in philippines.

> Did you pay by credit card or demand draft? Mine was through credit card and i check that the payment isnt there yet.

char bonel,

thanks for the advice. i will definitely include in my full application my CV which includes my job description.

Whats the waiting time to receive a letter from NS?

hi carribRN,

im kind of confused about one of the requirements that states we need to give them copy of Proof of Residency.do they mean the PR visa?how did u go about it?would that mean i can also start assessment and be able to recieve result even if i applied from my home country or are the changes took place after u applied and i really need to wait till i land, submit missing requirements before recving result?

thank you for being so nice CarribRN in answering my questions.....
No biggie. Glad to be of help. Proof of Residency s indeed the PR visa. Did they tell you it's one of their requirements? They did not ask me for that when I started processing mine last April. If they said they need it to start your application, then I guess its a newly implemented policy that they have. It could also be a requirement for applicants coming directly from the Philippines. I have heard of news that some applicants from foreign countries like the Philippines, some of their applications were approved by the CNO but come the time they need to go to Canada for the CRNE, they could not secure a visa to travel. So I reckon this maybe one of the reasons why they are asking for proof residency now is because they wanna make sure that only applicants who are in Canada and are actually capable of taking the exam will be granted or allowed to apply for assessment.

Just my two cents. Correct me if I am wrong.

kyle,

hi there! i talked to my co worker at the hospital who was successful about his canada application. I asked him if he submitted an extra piece of paper that explains his duties and responsibilities. He told me he didnt pass anything. He just write down his duties in a limited space that was provided in the application form. But his application was approved march 09 and then he had a PE july 09. Right now he is awaiting for his visa.

i hope that all applicants will be successful in their application.

btw.. I thought sharing this e-mail based conversation with CNO - Canadian Nursing association of Ontario will be helpful to you..

me : I just want to know that to apply for registration should I first be a Permanent resident of Canada ? Is it a mandatery requirment?

CNO :You are required to have immigration authority to work in Canada to become registered.

me: Or I can start my process of registration while I am currently in my home country before landing in Toronto - Canada ?

CNO:Yes, you may apply for assessment before you come to Canada.
I just sent my application to the College of Nurses of ONtario. This is true, assessment is different from registration. They are asking for proof of PR or citizenship in order to be registered as a nurse in Ontario but they will still assess your papers to see if you can take the CRNE or you need to take a bridging program. I think applicants will still be able to take the exam first even when they are not immigrants yet because they know they are getting applicants who are internationally educated so they cannot presume everyone has PR. The hard thing is that you need to be an immigrant or a citizen before you can practice as an RN. If they allowed you to take the CRNE already, I don't think you need to have one year Canadian hospital experience before you can be an RN. My friend was assessed before and she was allowed to take the exam. She was a fresh graduate from the Philippines. She's done with the exam and now she is practicing as an RN already. Hopefully, everyone's application including mine will run smoothly like hers. :p

I am planning to send my immigration FSW next month. I have a one year Canadian tourist visa hopefully I can use this to take the exam. Please let me know if I made a mistake in assuming I can take CRNE even if I don't have permanent resident card yet haha.

I wish everyone goodluck :p

meldzgs,
hi, i think being able to write down somehow only some of ur major job description will not be something to worry you.i guess the major criteria of NS to approve ur documents initially is based on whether ur job is included in the 38 list, so relax.im pretty sure u will have positive response.

hi mdarji,
thank you for your inputs, now i can also send my documents and have them assess it.ill just have to wait for their response whether to take CRNE or do the bridging program.Lets keep on updating ourselves, okey?

carribRN,
thank you so much for all your help.u have given me a lot of info.the manual was updated june 09, as i checked the ones sent by Ontario.changed a few months after u submited your documents.

to all fellow nurses who are NCLEX Passers.....

Canadian territories where we wish to practice nursing wants us to submit verification of license/registration to all jurisdictions including initial country/state of regitration. Canada doesnt ackowledge NCLEX RN, is it worth sending the forms to the Board of Nursing?

To those who have started Canada assessment, did u send ur forms to BON?
thanks...

I am trying to register in Ontario. I have 7 aunts and uncles there that's why I am applying straight to Ontario. I am here in USA, is it true about the FSW, that it will only take 6 months to 1 year if we apply today? I hope its true, my H1c visa will expire September 2010.
