Wolverine17: Many disagree on this forum about the evaluation of IELTS. For sure, it is deliberate to assign 6.5 in writing.

I my case it was miserable IELTS evaluation..LRSW; LRS scores for me was always great; Thrice reappeared. Got 6.5 in writing. My heart aches!!!

I would have got an ITA / PR by now. :'( :'( :'(
Am feeling bad for you,i appeared twice so far

I too ielts twice so far first time i scored speaking 6.5 reading 8.5 listening 7.5 and writing 7 i applied for a re evaluation but the scores not out yet because i was severly underscored in the speaking, second time i scored 8.5 listening 8 speaking 8.5 reading but 6.5 writing

In this case, I do not see the need for remarking ur first test, as u scored 7.5 for listening, which is 0.5 point short of the 8.0 required to score higher and there is limited chances that listening score would go up after remarking.

As far as I know, you should have 8,7,7,7 (with 8 for listening) to qualifiy for transferrable skill. Nonetheless, good luck for the remarking.

For my first test, I scored 8 for listening, 9 for reading, 7 for writing and 6.5 for speaking. Heart broken by the speaking score.

I guess I spoke too fast during the speaking test and did not pay much attention to grammer. That's why I failed to get 7.

Hopefully, my second test will work.

I wish i have an increase with my writing re evaluation because honestly having the exam again and again is not a very appealing idea to me,my scores are great in everything except writing and am not really sure that i will be able to score the same again,i might do good in 3 modules and bad in one, after all the main problem with the writing was the stupid topic they provided

I got more than 7 in all except writing i scored 6.5 this time and 7 in my first attempt,i am trying to find my chances with re evaluation

Wolverine17: LRSW, 8777 increases the CRS considerably.

I finally got 7.5 in writing after my third try after discovering the pattern of writing task 2 (I got the exact same scores for my first and second test). The trick is to know that there are only 7 types of questions for Task 2 (http://yourieltstutor.com/7-types-of-task-2-questions-for-ielts/) and you need to answer the question accordingly. Read a lot of different types of samples and understand/memorize the pattern and you will be good to go.

For your reference, check out Simon IELTS/ IELTS Liz on YouTube, they have lots of useful information on their websites.

I was the same... I am dyslexic so was getting scores like L9/8S9/8R9/8W7/7.5 or similar... got really frustrated, my doctor got a letter for IELTS explaining that i will have issues when writing by hand.. but they still did not allow me to have extra time or use a computer... but eventually i got the desired score.... it took 6 months :) and about $3000 :(

How many times did you take the exam

If you are confident that you have done well in Writing, then go for revaluation/remarking. I think, you will get a 0.5 increase as your other module scores look really good, writing score if not the same should be close to other scores.

I am considering this. Only thing is 8 weeks seems long. I know that it is kind of unlikely for EE draws to cut off at 460 or so but then who knows? Even with retaking the exam, the wait would be nearly half or less.
