    MARCH 2015 OUTLAND APPLICATIONS

The agent acted like she would do it right then if she could find some proof that I had attempted to send it in, or communicated with them at all, but there was none. I did send the scanned version to them electronically, and figured they would ask for the paper one if they actually needed it...

    Common law question

It depends on whether "Condition 51" is present on his visa or COPR papers, but it's likely his permanent resident status could be revoked when you divorce. You should start a new thread if you need more information.

    MARCH 2015 OUTLAND APPLICATIONS

I got a notification today that my application was refused. They asked for my CSQ the last week of May and gave me 30 days. I emailed and said I would send it when I got it, but that was unlikely to be soon as the MIDI was behind. I didn't hear anything from my email, so I called a few weeks...

    CSQ Processing time??

A warning to you guys waiting for CSQ… My application was just refused today for lack of a CSQ. Ottawa contacted me a week after they received the application and asked for the CSQ, and I was given 30 days to furnish it. I replied and stated that I wouldn't have it for a while as I had just...

    IMM 0008 confusion

Same situation. I listed no defendants on this form. Do note that this form is "Generic Application Form for Canada", and the notes in the guide say you "must include your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable…".

How much is too much evidence?

I sent plane ticket receipts from flights back and forth, and about 200 wedding and other photos. That's all, and it's more than I know a lot of people here have sent. I think photos together that cover a long span of time (changes in appearance, different locales and people, etc) bear more...

Flying to Canada to pick up COPR

They can see the status of your application in the computer if they dig hard enough. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Also, secondary examination may just be required for you at this point. If you have every been refused entry to Canada (signed an Allowed to Leave) you have...

if i am denied as sponsor

FWIW, spouse sponsorships are exempt from the "drain on Canada's resources" requirements present in other permanent residency processes.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

You would have a hard time getting on the bus without your PR Card, but since you are visa-exempt, your passport is acceptable as proof that you can enter the country, so the bus company is off the hook for your return. You should be just fine. Same goes for air.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

You can also land, apply for your PR card and an SIN, but not officially change your residency until later. You would continue to answer the "where do you live?" question as you do now, and get a funny look about why you have a PR card and live in the states, but as long as you have more than...

IMM 5490 question makes no damn sense.

I put no and explained the (essentially identical) situation and no one has raised a fuss. Yet.

How did you meet your spouse?!

Denied at the Canadian border? You have an NH (name hit) then, but that won't go away once you have PR, BUT there is an application you can file to get rid of it. Ask the officer when you land.

Sponsorship Question: Use a Lawyer or Self-Apply?

Also, I have heard from multiple immigration officers (and said this on this forum about 38 times) that they get applications for sponsorship or other PR classes prepared by immigration attorneys that are STILL done wrong. "one undotted i or uncrossed t" may cause issues, but as long as your...

    COPR without PPR

Nope! You just need to get all registered, and receive your SIN and your first PR Card. It's pretty straightforward, the land border I usually cross at has 1 or 2 people there processing their PR each time I'm there.

    CSQ Processing time??

I have heard a few people say that London will take it via email, but I would check with them first. You could scan it and send it to the London office with the Case Specific Enquiry form for London.

Question on exporting a car from US

My buddy that imported his car last year said he stopped at Export Control when he drove here from Arizona and asked them for the paperwork, and got the process started, and continued into Canada right then. He came back 3 days later and finished the process. I don't think you'll have any problems.

Sponsorship Question: Use a Lawyer or Self-Apply?

Honestly, I would not even do that. The forms are perfectly straightforward. On Thursday, I got my FBI Identity History after 16 weeks of waiting. Friday, I paid $25 to print ~200 photos of us dating and our wedding, and $15 for two sets of PR Card photos at Costco. Tuesday, I did my medical at...

CAN I MAINTIAN US GREENCARD AND THE CANADIAN PR CARD AT THE SAME TIME?

One tip: If you are married a Canadian you retain your Canadian PR no matter where you live, as long as you live with them… this includes the United States. Do note, however, that this time does not count towards citizenship.

    CSQ Processing time??

I mailed my application June 2nd, they hit my credit card June 9th. The CSQ showed up in my wife's mailbox via Canada Post July 9th. I called CIC and checked, they told me the CSQ would be sent to them internally since I'm in the family sponsorship category, and I didn't need to send them one...
