    Biometric fees asked again

You can't use biometrics submitted from a visitor visa for a PR application. A PR/spousal sponsorship application requires new biometrics to be completed. You will need to pay the $85 and submit your biometrics again. "Permanent residence applicants: You’ll need to give your biometrics and pay...

    about our biometrics

Submitting biometrics is not tied to a timeline for PPR. In fact for most outland apps it seems like biometrics is taking place towards the beginning. My husband submitted biometrics in Dec 2018 and we are still waiting for decision made. Does the biometric enrollment info show up in GCKey?

No response/information after mailing our documents.

It took almost 4 months for me to get an email with acknowledgement of receipt last fall... things seemed to have sped up a bit since then, but waiting 2+ months to get a confirmation response is totally normal.

Can my wife (with PR & both parents deceased) sponsor her sister?

My understanding is that it is not possible. If you read the link you provided closely you will see that her sister is not eligible to be sponsored as a "Orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild" because the sister is over 18. Your wife is also not eligible to sponsor her sister as...

    Application Returned - Need clarification

When resubmitting after an application has been returned it is as if it is a new application in the eyes of IRCC. So you need to update all forms to the current version, otherwise it will likely be returned again for out of date forms.

    Common law partner sponsorship

You have to wait until you have 12 months of continuous cohabitation to be eligible to apply for common-law sponsorship. You would have to get married if you wanted to start the process right away. Provided you don't have major red flags or complications, it is a fairly simple (albeit tedious)...

??? ...Biometrics - We do not need your fingerprints... ???

If you applied before July 31, 2018 (or December 2018 for some countries), biometrics were not required so don't worry. If you have CoPR, you're good to go!

Can I give my biometrics in Canada even if I applied outland?

No you can't submit biometrics in Canada. You will need to leave Canada and submit them at one of the registered collection points listed on the website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/where-to-give-biometrics.asp). It doesn't necessarily need to be in your home country, you can choose...

    Use of representative

I filled out the form to be the representative for my husband because it allows me to have access to the app online and over the phone. Since we are applying outland and he is still living in Zambia, it is much easier for me in Canada to have the authority to deal with all aspects of the app not...

    NO UPDATES ON MEDICAL RESULTS

I believe it is showing in ECAS as "medical results received" it means that the medical is passed. IRCC doesn't send an email or letter update when the medical is passed, you can only see the change in the GCKey line.

Got AOR1!!! Can't link application, though.

Keep in mind the UCI on AOR1 is the sponsor's UCI not the applicant's UCI so it can't be used when linking on GCKey.

    Spouse sponsership

Inland is roughly 1-2 months, outland has been averaging 3-4 months but seems it may be speeding up again to 2-3 months wait for AOR.

    Conjugal Sponsorship

Unfortunately if your partner has been able to visit you in Canada then you don't qualify for conjugal sponsorship because you have the option to get married or establish common-law status in Canada so there are no legal/immigration barriers.

    Linking sponsor file on gckey

Is your husband the sponsor? GCKey is only for the Principal Applicant (or their representative)... it's only ECAS that can be used by both the PA and the sponsor.

    WIFE SPONSORING

Outland applications average about 12 months to process from IRCC's receipt of the application. You are only allowed to send 20 pages of proof of communication. Sending more may result in processing delays. I would recommend taking screenshots of some key conversations throughout your...

    Family Sponsorship - on PR

From reading other people's stories, I believe it matters whether or not you have common-law status when you land not when you apply. So even if you applied in March once you became common-law the next month you would need to have him added onto your application before you landed to be eligible...

    Family Sponsorship - on PR

My understanding is that if you are common-law at the time of application (ie have lived together for a year continuously) you must include him on your PR application otherwise you will never be eligible to sponsor him (even if you married in the future).

    Biometric Fees

It depends on the VAC/biometric collection point. Some of them require an appointment and some are just walk-in. Check the list on this page: Where to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) - Canada.ca and in the fourth column (biometrics) it will tell you whether you need an appointment...

    Private insurance

I have Manulife insurance through my employment benefits and they wouldn't cover medical costs for my husband until he has MSP coverage (the British Columbia version of OHIP). However, I can (and have already done so) add him as a beneficiary on the life insurance portion of my Manulife plan and...

    Procedural Fairness

I noticed from your post history that your wife is Palestinian. IRCC considers it a red flag if weddings don't conform with typical marriage customs of your/your spouse's cultures/countries of origin. If you had a small wedding and/or didn't have components of the ceremony which IRCC would view...
