As far as i know you have to apply for your partners visa together with yours. the choice is yours to decide which visa u apply for your dependant i.e. TRV only if needed, Student visa or Open work permit. Hope this helps.

Well, In my personal opinion, the stated amount in the LOA remains the best bet to plan against. As in, you should endeavor to support your application with an amount equal or above the stated $37k. Regards

37K represent the overall cost of tuition and living expense for a year. i also got admitted to same university and got an LOA which states thesame.

Hi All, just got admission to the university of Ottawa for MEng program and would like to know just how much it cost to get an accommodation fairly close to the school note a 15-25mins bus ride to the school is okay by me. I am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment for myself and family. Regards
