Hi I am not an expert. Yes, it is advisable to get the surname corrected through an endrosement and copy sent to the VO. If no surname in the surname column that means your spouse does not have a surname and all documentation will be affected. It is not very complicated, she is not changing...

You can get the endrosement done in the passports. Unless your passport is about to expire, you need not apply for a new passport, which will take more time. The endrosement page then can be photocopied/notarised and sent to colombo. It is simple... not very complicated.

Check with dhl. They have a courier service manual 2012 edition..... which says it can be done.....but only to consulate/embassy etc.
