COMMON LAW SPONSORSHIP CONCERN & QUESTION

You should probably stop referring to your partner as your girlfriend or GF. If you are aiming for common-law, calling them such does little for credibility.

    pr card

There are language barriers here on this forum. ;) Not everything, especially humour translates that well online let alone with a language barrier added to the mix.

    Canada Post!!!

Sending anything of significance without tracking is a terrible idea. Tracking numbers do not always guarantee the safety of your package, but they can certainly give you piece of mind, and a grounds to launch an investigation other. I used to work at a national courier company. In my two...

Anyone else having problems checking staus online??

Also, sometimes CIC has the wrong country of birth. My partner was born in Wales, but they had him listed as England. You will need to add the dash to the UCI number as well. I know it's not listed with one on the forms, but it should be ****-**** if I recall correctly.

well this thread was a bright little moment in my day. Quips about importing Scots, and a positive SA. Doesn't get much better :)

Starting Sponsor application but have a few questions

I had a reply drafted, but lost it. Thankfully others beat me to it :) your fees may vary depending on wether or not you have children you are sponsoring as well. Plus the fees for your husbands medical (and any children) as well as the fees for background checks. There is a london UK...

    Application for Sponsoring

Nah no need to apologize. Its a very emotional raw thing to go through. :) I can be a little abrasive, objective and abrupt at times. So I'm sorry too. You quoted the AOR in one of your posts, I think. Stating they received your application May 25 or some such. Not everyone receives AOR from...

    Application for Sponsoring

It may also be of interest to you to know that SA took 88 days from the time our application was received :) We didn't receive AOR until February 27, 70 days after the application was received by CIC, or 74 after it was sent. I believe the processing times start at the date of AOR (there...

    Application for Sponsoring

It was in process from December 15 until May 4 so 140 days. Or 4 months, 19 days in total. We were very lucky it stayed in Mississauga, I am not disputing that. I was prepared for twelve months when we applied, and then 29 when the dates were updated. It wasn't until I found this forum that...

    Application for Sponsoring

Why on earth would you call once a week?! :o That seems like overkill to me, and probably won't help expedite your case at all and could potentially slow down others. There is something to be said for patience and the value of waiting.

    Proof of Relationship

you can get by with 20 quality photos. 100 photos is still overkill IMO.

    Land->Leave->Marry->Return->Sponsor->Leave Canada->Return with Wife ?

If your girlfriend was considered a common-law partner before you applied and you failed to mention her on your application it could also be refused. As others have said, you must reside in Canada when sponsoring. Your wish to be primarily overseas is highly unlikely.

    Spousal sponsorship

I believe sponsors who are not Canadian citizens must reside in Canada while sponsoring their spouse. I could be wrong however.

Tier 5 YMS in UK Wanting to Bring British Commonlaw to Canada?

All I am saying is you are not ready to commit to marriage, filing an application to sponsor him under common-law seems fraudulent to me. Others may disagree. Electrical training is better in the UK. IMO, and he could be finished in two years. I don't believe he will get a study permit in...

Tier 5 YMS in UK Wanting to Bring British Commonlaw to Canada?

ehhh... I might get dinged for this but here goes: The common-law application wasn't designed for people who weren't ready to be married. Its not a back door entry system so people can continue testing the relationship waters. It was designed for people who are in a committed marriage like...
