    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Wonder if it is ok to tag someone. Might be bothersome.

Good question. It is iam_toby in case you are not finding him by the name you wrote. Was very active when I was applying for PR.

Can You Choose Citizenship Test Language at the Time of the Test?

Citizenship is a federal process and everywhere the test has both English and French. You get a booklet. One side of the page, the questions are in English and the other side in French. At the first page where you fill in your details, you tick whether you are taking in English or French.

Thanks again. I am expecting my oath around July which would be 5 months after my test in Feb. I am keeping myself busy learning French. The cashier at the supermarket next to my house says I am getting better so that's good news.

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Congrats again and enjoy your new status. Of course no need to disclose details on your application. I had a feeling with some folks who get oath quickly, it is because CIC sees their country of origin and wants to get them done sooner.

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

The biggest immigrant groups are from India and China and both don't allow dual citizenship. So doubt that argument will work. The only time urgent processing seems to work is when it is a highly skilled worker who needs a citizenship for the job and the employer is willing to write a...

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Can you share what your country of citizenship before was? And I doubt if passport expiring would make CIC process the application faster. A lot of people would use all kind of excuses like that or similar like PR card expiring to request faster processing. Until you get Canadian citizenship...

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

I tried calling last month when it had been two months after the test and my ECAS is still in process. They just said that it is being processed and they will email me if there is an update. If you have DM then you shouldn't have to worry. The oath invite seems to be a random process. From the...

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Fantastic! Congrats! Just one question - did you feel like they had tried to get the country of origin uniformly distributed in the ceremony? Someone else said the judge said people from 61 countries were taking the oath that day.

Today the first person from Montreal in the September forum should have become a citizen. Let's hope he posts soon saying all went well.

When to apply for GCMS notes?

I guess the person receiving the notes needs to have a decent level of education to make some sense out of it. As for don't worry be happy - it rarely ever is the case when you are awaiting any kind of immigration as a lot has been put on hold. I dare not leave the country because Montreal gives...

When to apply for GCMS notes?

Applying for GCMS notes is not a major intervention like contacting your MP etc. It is in fact quite routine and you are entitled to ask for electronic notes about your application through privacy act. I have used it several times before for my PR application and am awaiting my first notes in my...

Citizenship test tomorrow... have an urgent question...

If you have provided copies of documents like language proof, try to carry those originals with you.

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

I don't think so. I applied for notes many times for my PR and also when I was sponsoring my wife. And the same with several others. There is a feeling that there will be some kind of backlash. The CIC officer will think "How dare!!!!". But there has been no evidence of this at all.

Have you considered applying for GCMS notes? I applied and they are expected mid May. I hope there is some useful info in there.

Montreal - DM to Oath? Anyone have up-to-date timeline?

Congrats! Adds a whole new dimension to this oath invite mystery. Was thinking the speed of the application might be decided by years of education or employment history. But country of origin uniformly distributed??? - what else? Make sure the height and weight of everyone is evenly distributed...

    September 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

I applied from Toronto. So need for CSQ. At that time there was no Express entry and I applied under CEC directly. Applications were being processed well within a year at that time. Most who applied a month or two before me got their PR in 9 months. My application was approved in that time but...

Yes. Took exactly one year to land. Applied on Oct 2013 and landed on Oct 2014. The last GCMS notes I got in July 2014 confirmed PR.
