    OCI process

Hello, I surrendered my Indian passport today at BLS Montreal. Next I need to apply for OCI once I get my surrender certificate. However, OCI takes 2-3 months. I will be spending some time in Germany (maybe 6 months) starting this September. Is it possible that apply for OCI from Germany or do...

Bring both if you have. They take away only your PR card. They tell you to preserve your COPR because you need that for applying for benefits later.

Just took my oath. Reasonably well organized. People from 49 countries took the oath in Montreal. The time said 1pm. We started lining up for the document check around 12:40pm. They took my PR card away. They checked my driver's license and health card. And ask you if you have any criminal...

So can you apply for a passport the day it changes to complete or still wait for 48 hours after oath?

Driver's license and health card 5. COPR 6. My current passport and two expired Copies of all these. I will be taking many...

Incredible how much the process varies depending on where you live. Here in Montreal waiting for the oath invite is like waiting for a messiah to return.

Great, congrats! Montreal! Your status has not changed to DM in the spreadsheet. You moved from in process to oath directly?

Totally agree. Try to keep yourself occupied with something else. I was going crazy checking my online status and reading posts on the forum. I have been devoting myself to learning French. Yesterday I successfully ordered a meal in French and got a high five from the waiter.

Only God knows. There are people who have been waiting for months and there are some who get invite in a week. Good luck.

Processing time depends on your visa office. Vancouver is notoriously slow. Mississauga and Brampton are pretty slow too. Ottawa and Montreal and quite similar. Typically, anything the agent tells is you is a "vague estimate". Usually it is a 5 to 6 months wait for oath after the test. Did you...

And finally my online status changed to Decision Made. The change happened either today morning or last evening because I checked yesterday afternoon. Everyone says there is no correlation between GCMS notes and your application progress but I am expecting my GCMS notes today (applied April...

Oh no, not at all. You can tag someone with @ and the user name. But I wondered if doing that might be inappropriate. He helped me out many times and I too hope he is OK.
