Spreadsheet update: Got sponsor approval today (11/04) and our application has been transferred to Ottawa! Looking at the spreadsheet, I'm pretty happy it's not gone to London (would have preferred Mississauga, but hey!) So happy this first step is over!

Just got Sponsor Approval today! 77 days after original application was received, 36 days after we were asked to submit an additional document (which was sent the next day via regular Royal Mail). :D Our application was transferred to Ottawa, which I see as a positive thing! Now, the waiting...

What address did you send the email to? Your officer's one that was on the letter requested updated forms?

I'm calling them on Skype through 1613 944 4000 (since 1800 numbers don't work). Then, you get the option to be transferred to CIC. Finally managed to get on to the waiting list (before, I had been cut off automatically for "high volume of calls"). Been waiting for 30 minutes. Will let you know...

No, no. We're in the same boat. Received on August 19th. Currently trying to get through to the Call Centre to check they have received the additional form that was sent 2 weeks ago, since we haven't heard anything and are well over "normal" processing times...

On the off chance... did you ever happen to memorize what options you're choosing to most efficiently speak to an agent? I've still not mastered their new system and always go round and round before I can even attempt to be transferred...

Has anyone been able to speak to an agent at CIC recently? Every time I try calling, the message says "We are experiencing a high volume of call... etc", I get music for half a second and then get disconnected! >:( I've been trying through the "French" option, might try in English...

I'm a bit confused... Why can't you just renew your passport from Canada after you've landed? As a Canadian, I can renew my passport even if I am living abroad. In that case I don't need the "help" of the Canadian embassy, as it can all be done via mail. Surely, you can do the same for Sweden, no?

Most people don't get any notification from CIC until SA, except if more documents/new forms are required. If your application was received September 2, I wouldn't worry just yet.

Yes, I got a UCI and application number, which is the one good thing about the whole ordeal! I will ring them to check they got it if I don't receive an update within a week or two (we are still well under the 55 days processing times for SA, so no rush). I just hate calling CIC: I haven't...

Same thing happened to us. I swear I had read somewhere that this form didn't apply to our situation, but now I can't recall where... It seems odd that in the midst of such an intense process, even after checking and rechecking, we both made that (rather big) mistake! Can you please let us know...

Yeah, exactly, thanks for the clarification! And yeah, I figured it would take longer... I'm under the impression they don't actually look at the application again until the deadline to send new forms passes... It's just a theory, but that's what it looks like considering other stats.

If someone wants to update the spreadsheet, we received an email today requesting an additional form (apparently we forgot to submit IMM5406). Sent it via email AND by the post today. Bit bummed out that we forgot the form, but at least, we know things are moving along and can now access ECAS...
