yes you should be getting emails on such occasions as i understand it.

it's not necessary unless you want to know the final decision online before your passport is dispatched. and yes, you'll get the updates through mail without linking the application. hope this helps.

so according to ircc they won't be processing non essential visitor visas due to the pandemic and will only continue to process study, work permit and pr applications. in their website they mentioned 'The processing of study permits for students will continue in anticipation of the fall study...

she cannot fly at the moment unless certain airlines are still operating to fly to canada and I'm pretty sure that is not the case atm.
