I'm getting my PhD in the US soon and going to apply for Canadian PR. How's the post-doc job market in Canada look like? There's been a lot of budge cuts in research in the US in the past few years and postdocs positions became a bit harder to find. I'm wondering if Canada is in a similar situation?

So is it okay for me to use a PCC obtained a few months in advance of ITA, for a country I've lived in a few years ago? I want to get the PCC in advance.

What does "arranged employment" mean?

It seems both tools predict cutoff to be somewhere around 490-500. How come the latest draw suddenly went up to 535? Those are mostly likely CEC people which should increase during graduation seasons. But why now a sudden increase?

I played around with the new default values. It seems if 750 ITAs continue, cutoff will stay around 505+-10. For 1400+ ITAs, cutoff will drop to ~450, then to 430 and slowly decrease by 5 every draw. But of course if the score continue to stay low like that it will attract more applications...

I agree finding a job on jobbank is hard as a foreigner. But you have to understand it's meant for everybody including Canadians. I've spent quite some time in the last few months watching job postings on jobbank. And I noticed many jobs, at least in my field, are posted by head-hunter or...

From my understanding, jobs posted on Job Bank are not specifically for foreign workers. They're meant for the general public, meaning citizens and permanent residents. If you don't have PR yet it's going to be very difficult.

Hello, I want to ask, if I gain PR from FSW, am I allowed to work in Quebec? I'm asking because in another thread someone said Quebec has a seperate immigration system and you have to get PR from Quebec to work there? Thank you :)

If you don't renounce your Latvian citizenship after getting UK citizenship I'd say it's fine. But if you do it might create inconsistency in your application document as the process might take several months.
