yep, that's what I'm afraid of as well but there's nothing we can do but wait it out. I'm going to request the notes to see where they're at. It's going to be a $5 well spent. Just not sure if I should request the electronic or physical file. Does anyone have experience with this?

I haven't seen any correlation to date between nationality and length of background checks, other than it seems to be faster for women. My husband is german and we've been in background checks since September. The wait is most likely due to their processing load at CSIS or wherever they're doing...

I read somewhere that they can do that (they changed the rules as of last year) but it all depends on how close you application is to being granted. They could also ask you to just do part of the medical. We are in the same boat, our medicals expire next week, we'll probably have to redo...

I wouldn't count on anything happening between Christmas and New Years, I bet most people took time off to merge the two holidays. If you haven't heard anything (like us) keep hoping for good news in January! For ones that got their PR recently, congrats and all the best !! :)

who knows, my guess is that there might be a higher number of cases where "exempt" applicants have lived in multiple countries ...which in turn makes the background check longer..women also seem to be getting their PR faster than men...but this whole thing seems to be so random that I have given...

I have a feeling that's what's slowing us down as well. My husband spent his whole life in Germany, with the exception of one year in Canada when we were dating..so probably they have to do background checks for both countries. I just hope it doesn't take 2 years because that would drive us...
