    Why no staples ?

They probably don't like staples because they scan entire application packages into their system, to have an electronic file on your case. This requires removal of staples, hence extra work. We have used regular paperclips and had no issues.

    inland advice please

Just wondering what happens to those who are beyond 90 days without a status and still inside Canada, there is no chance to restore? Do they have to leave? Also, by the looks of it even inland application forms require a valid status in Canada now.

    sponsorship application in process spouse

Sorry to be a party pooper, but inland applications are processed the longest, you are probably looking at about 2 years before getting PR since the application date. You may apply for a work permit though while still waiting and when passed certain stage.

To fib or not to fib?

You should be able to, all they did ask is to show extended stay and some random mail that was sent to her name(on top of required info). Unfortunately they don't follow guidelines. We have waited for an actual PR before attempting, worst case you may need to wait 3 months, but you should get...

    Refugees

Well, people wanted this Justin Bieber pretty boy and there you have it! Wait until carbon taxes and all other fun liberal-global-warming-loving things come into play. Oh yeah and he would legalize pot! That's why he is a PM now! Honestly, I am more concerned about possible terrorists attacks...

Just wait until you see the recycled/refurbished brown paper towel envelope with $0.99 stamp and copr inside. That really delivers!

extremely negative rant.. consider yourself warned!

Yep, their call centers can be pretty brutal, but you will get answers if you are *extra* nice to them and courteous. I was able to get them, and it was way more than 20 minutes waiting... I am not sure if this is how they are trained or just silly ambitions...They are CS reps, and don't earn...

To fib or not to fib?

Pardon my French, but you probably just ran into another incompetent idiot working for the government of Canada. We have experienced this many times and the most recent one was just a few days ago when they refused us a health card. Basically, they did not know what COPR is, and were not even...

Congrats :). We got ours in about 2 weeks(inside Canada) with copr, so maybe 3 for you? They use the cheapest mail option to send it, which is unfortunate and should be embarrassing for them.

There is no limit on how many times and for how long you can extend your stay as long as you have proof of personal financial support and the reason for doing so, in this case again - family class sponsorship - people want to be with their loved ones while waiting for PR, for some it takes less...

Paris...just want to say you are in our hearts

Well, I was not trying to blame anyone, that was a rhetorical question only. Snowisland has brought up a very sensitive and important subject (for which I am glad), and indeed, we should worry about what is happening. This planet is too small to dismiss such actions. RIP

Paris...just want to say you are in our hearts

For sure some very unpleasant and nasty things that are happening right now in Europe and around.. But why only Paris? No one seems to talk about recent Friday happenings in Lebanon http://www.fox2detroit.com/news/local-news/48864538-story I guess they are just not worthy enough to mention right?

Just to remind you lokyy, you are in Family Class Sponsorship section of this forum, and yes you can extend your stay, we have personally done it. Personal financial support and the reason is the largest proof they are looking for, even if you are married. Everything is done online and takes...

Technically you can "move" to Canada if you are US citizen, but I would not do that with a green card, too risky. If you move, you won't be able to get a job, healthcare etc, but you can keep extending your stay here if you have the money and support. It all comes down to one word - money. :)

Exactly jamsham, you always need a passport to travel, green card only serves basically as a PR card in Canada. They only require to send a passport if you are not from a visa exempt country, with US passport you can enter Canada without visa, hence they won't ask.

To fib or not to fib?

Interesting, I was sure there would be something like this in BC also: https://www.ontario.ca/page/exchange-out-province-drivers-licence I forgot to mention that she also had to get a letter from DMV in Iowa regarding her good and standing license(to get full G). Letter had to be in the...

Spouse just received CoPR and need info as to what next needs to be done?

What to do, right from CIC website: I know that she did not live in Canada, but still needs to land the same way, just don't worry about proving her status part. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=748&t=22

To fib or not to fib?

Actually for my wife it did not matter how long her stay was to get the driver's license. Not sure about other provinces, but in Ontario there is an exchange program - bring the US license, pay something like $70, pass an eye exam and get your full G license. They don't care how long your visa is.
