    Passport requist??

    They take your passport to put the visa permitting you to land in Canada in it, it is usually no more than 2 weeks or so depending on the office. Once you land in Canada then you get a PR card.

    It depends on your officer. Sometimes people get there apps returned for silly oversights, like foregetting to sign the back of a photo or something. It really depends on the officer.

    Yes, there is no income requirement for spousal sponsorships. However you can not be in reciept of socail assitance (ie Welfare), or be in bankrupcy.

    Legally, you don't have to change your name on a passport until it expires. I sent everything in in my maiden name but filled in the forms with my married name. No worries, they get that it takes a while to get it all changed.

    We opened an account at CIBC for my husband and I... the clerk looked REALLY confused. But he had an international passport, that is enough ID, don't let them forget that...

    Some volunteer work is okay. You have to be really careful though, as if the job considered "volunteer" is something that a Canadian Citizen, or PR would do and get paid - It's considered work and you therefore need a work permit.
