    Birth Certificate

Maybe that's not the official stance of CIC, but that's what they told me when I phoned in, that I needed the long form that included my spouse's parents name, place of birth, witnesses, etc. Maybe it was the particular call agent that I got. Perhaps phone to make sure? I know with other things...

    Birth Certificate

Canadian's born in Canada don't have citizenship cards. ::) FYI, the short form is fine. Most people were only given the short forms in the old days. Most Canadians have never even seen their long form bc! The only "long form" version of documents he needs is his marriage certificate.

    Old permits?

My husband kept his expired ones in his passports as well. Then a few months ago while coming into Canada, a CBSA border guard took them all out! He didn't say that he couldn't have them, but he never said why he took them out either. We never asked as we only speak when spoken to at the border. :D

    Copy 2 of receipt?

Are you 100% sure you paid in full? The Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) isn't required at the time of application, but the application fee ($75), the principle applicant ($475), and family members ($550) are.

    Copy 2 of receipt?

It's the same thing, the screen printout and the email, it's the same number. The email is just a PDF for your files. The checklist reads "If you are paying using the Internet, copy 2 properly completed of the Receipt you print from our website". Just make sure you fill it out with your name...

    MP's reply?!!!!!!1

Perhaps they mean CIC? There's been some issues with MPs/non-MPs (Ruby Dhalla/Parm Gill) getting involved with CIC. IMO sounds like the letter is saying that the issue is being handled by CIC and the MP isn't going to get involved, but I'm no expert.

    Quick question re: Police Certificates...

Agreed. I asked CIC the same question when I filed, they said if they needed a police check done for the time spent in Canada they'd do it themselves.

    FACTORS CAN SLOW DOWN PROCESSING

Thank you for the reply rjessome. It won't be an issue then, as his study permit is valid for some time. :) We'd rather have the interview in London than in China, as it's easier to get to if needed. Hopefully the interview will be waived though!

    FACTORS CAN SLOW DOWN PROCESSING

Uh oh. I didn't think this would be an issue. My Chinese husband has been living in the UK for the last 2 years on a student visa, so the application is being sent to the London office. Did we make a huge mistake in doing this? How much longer should we expect to wait? :(
