    Consider going to the border, land, get your PR, and then go back to Illinois to actually get ready to move to Canada. Or you can choose whatever is the cheapest flight to Canada, land, get your PR, and go straight back to Illinois to prepare your definitive move.

    Thanks everyone! Samstar, I'll be happy to hear how you do. There's a chance different VOs will behave differentely, but maybe there is some kind of guideline... I haven't let the embassy know. How should I do that? Through a case specific enquiry...? Does this depend on the 15 months limit...
