can you help confirm if the return ticket only applies for visit visa? what if a person has work permit expiring still in 2021? is return ticket required in the airport or one way should be fine?

Thanks for the advice. We will just apoly for study permit and explain in the letter that it will be for 1year only since WP expires sep2021.

I got approved visitor visa until Sep2021. Does it mean I need to still exit on the 6th month? Or I can stay in Canada until expiration of visa? Thanks

Agree. In my case, my husband is working in Canada. So I applied open work permit outside Canada and my 3yo kid as visitor visa. It only took 2 weeks from submission to passport release. I guess you can do the same too.

If your wife has study permit you can apply for open work permit
