They ask for 10 years to make sure that you did not travel or stay outside of the country at anytime. If you did they will ask for background checks from each country. One person was on a 6 month contract 5 years ago in another country and they had to get a background check from that country...

Hi Ryanr. My husband was in New York on a temporary green card - conditional on marriage. He married a US citizen but divorced before the 2 year waiting period was up. We asked the visa office to be Ottawa as that is where they process people who are LIVING in the US. CIC denied this and...

After I got SA I didn't hear anything until 120 days later (4 months). It was an invite for an interview. Typically if there are no snags with your file you should hear within 3 months and it should be for passport request. :)

The Visa Office is not that polite. It is unusual to get an acknowledgement of additional documentation received. Hopefully your next communication will be for your passport! :) :)

I don't think it is true that they wait 30 days. I think it all depends on the IO workload. Just try to be patient. I know that is a huge task because all immigration has us do is wait. It is good they asked for additional documentation at least they are moving your file forward - which is...

Sounds like you are almost finished the process. Did the visa officer tell your husband at the end of the interview if he was successful or not? What were the questions that he was asked? It seems the only concern they would have had was his over stay. I am sure things will go fine. Have...

Don't bother spending the money on another police report. Wait until they ask. It only expires if they received after 6 months so you are good. They will ask you to update if they are concern that there is criminal history otherwise you should be good. Hang onto the 2011 material. If they...

Yes, exactly. If they feel that the relationship isn't "normal" then they tend to question. My husband and I knew each other for a short period of time before getting married - May to November lol Additionally he was in the US on temporary Green Card through marriage as well... I know it...

I agree. It is unfortunate but a lot of people on the forums (Kingston, Jamaica) in particular are refused even with child. It is not unheard off. The positive is that typically the POS office is really good if you are Trinidadian. They tend to be harder on people that are not. There was a...
