Email Requesting Documents - Proof Sponsor living in Canada

I always prefer the belt-and-suspenders approach. An email with PDFs followed by snail mail with the original hard copies. That way they have them ASAP, but also they have them for sure if there is a digital hiccup (which has been known to happen).

    YVR Vancouver landing Questions.

Do you have Nexus Cards? If not, I highly recommend it. Beyond that, it depends on your airline (reliability) and if you have checked bags. http://www.yvr.ca/en/navigating-yvr/passenger-guides/connecting-through-YVR.aspx

As a visitor, what am I ALLOWED to do while waiting?

Unless you are on an OWP, you should check into your specific restrictions. For visitors, online work, such as etsy or elance, is non-permissible, as it's paid work that could be done by a Canadian.

APPLIED IN APRIL 2014, STILL WAITING. HELP

The 80% time limit for India is 17 months after Sponsorship Approval. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp You are currently around 13 months, so something under another 4 months waiting is normal.

Lying in the sponsorship documentation, what can happen ??

Actually, this is an example of the system working "well enough". The marriage certificate was in order as far as the provided documentation, so rather than spending more resources examining if ever document is legitimate, CIC accepts the official word of other official agencies. There...

As a visitor, what am I ALLOWED to do while waiting?

Check with your local library! Often there are many "newcomer" programs that can help their transition and fill the time while waiting for the application process to be completed.

    married,divorce,common law

Marriage, typically, is the "easiest" route. Why would you be divorced in Canada, but married in Hong Kong? Does it not make sense to do both in the same country to simplify the process?

    refugee crisis

Yes, staff is being re-distributed from other Embassies and possibly profiles. This might just mean CIC employees process refugee claims in Latin America are being sent to the Middle East, so no family applications are affected. Or it might mean "overstaffed" VOs are brought closer to the...

Sponsor US spouse to come to Canada - one way ticket?

So is the Texas part after Toronto or before? Definitely say that she is coming for her wedding (any proof is good support, but almost never needed). Is the intention to come to Toronto for the wedding and stay quasi-permanently? If not, just bring what she needs for 3-6 months, and say the...

    wrong date on appendix A

Appendix A is a country-specific additional document that's requested by CIC, typically from the Philippines.

    Enough Proof of Relationship?

Copies of personal letters are great proof. Other things you might include are photos of/receipts for any special gifts with a good description of what it is and why you bought it. Basically, anything you have of sentimental value is great proof beyond all the "straightforward" evidence.

    MARCH 2015 OUTLAND APPLICATIONS

Interview is different/separate. I don't actually know what this part entails, but basically they show up with their passport and the visa is issued.

Lying in the sponsorship documentation, what can happen ??

In theory, their marriage is void, as it was completed under false pretenses. The specific marriage license requirements vary by province, but you need to provide evidence at the time of application that you are divorced. By not disclosing on their marriage licence, it technically could be...

    Havana, Cuba

Mr.Keilani, It's quite variable when you actually get your AOR, but the time to SA is very well established. It can be anywhere between 30 to 50 days until they actually tell you that they received it, but currently only 56 days to get approved...

    MARCH 2015 OUTLAND APPLICATIONS

Nope, they never completely stop the flow, but they restrict a torrent into a stream. Does your husband not have email on his phone? It costs 1 or 1.50cuc to set-up and then just costs 1cuc/MB from the same Nauta pre-paid account. I just sent the form to my wife, she took it to the local print...

How did you meet your spouse?!

My wife has a much more vivid recollection of our first meeting than I do. I was on vacation and we met at a beach party though my sister dating her cousin. Apparently, I said hello and then spend the whole night (until 3am) dancing with my then girlfriend, and my wife now complains that I...

AMMAN Visa Office - OUTLAND Family Class

Making the immigration process as fast and easy as possible has not been a priority of the Conservatives. If anything, they've focused on cutting costs while making waits longer or cutting wait times by either kicking people out of line or shutting access to the queue completely. If you think...

AMMAN Visa Office - OUTLAND Family Class

I've started compiling a historical list for Havana (my VO) from old threads and then checking all the posts of the users with the same VO. It's slow work and Havana is another small office. I noticed a historical thread for Amman, where you could pull up similar information. If it has a...

    Havana, Cuba

Hi luigui, you're application is at 4.5 months in Havana, and only 20% of applications are finished in less than 5 months, so still lots more waiting unfortunately. Have you ever received replies from that email? I thought generally they don't reply until your application is beyond the standard...
