Would this be considered a red flag?

Ok thanks. I just don't want to give them any reason to question the genuineness of our relationship.

Would this be considered a red flag?

Would it be considered a "red flag" to CIC if you were to apply for your permanent residency on the anniversary of living together 1 year to qualify as common law? Even if you and your partner had been together for 2 years total.

Can I extend my work permit while applying outland?

Mmk, thanks for the info. I wouldn't need a LMO though since I'm exempt from needing one thanks to the intra-company transfer clause with NAFTA.

Can I extend my work permit while applying outland?

I have a work permit that is good until July 2012 and my boyfriend are planning to apply for my PR through common law in March of 2012. Would it be possible for me to apply to extend my work permit while we wait for my PR to be processed or would I have to change my status to visitor to be in...

Should you get engaged before or after sending off application?

This is what I was afraid of happening, I'll definitely keep that in mind when I apply. Thanks Leon. :)

Should you get engaged before or after sending off application?

So far we've been living together for 3 months. I know we have to wait at least a year for us to qualify as common law. And we have lots of documents stating we live together at the same address and joint accounts, etc. I'm not worried about that, but I was wondering if being engaged and...

Should you get engaged before or after sending off application?

I'm living with my boyfriend in Canada while on a 1.5 year work visa. We're planning to get engaged sometime next year, but I wanted some people's opinions on if getting engaged before we send off our application. We're applying as common law and I'm not sure if us getting engaged will hurt our...

Question regarding a WP and applying as common law

Thanks RobsLuv, we're already getting proof of our relationship with lots of pics and documentation from our bank and lease agreement. But I thought I could get my work permit extended and apply outland at the same time. That's a bummer.

Question regarding a WP and applying as common law

Well I finally moved to Canada to be with my boyfriend and we just got our first apartment together. ;D So my work permit is good till July 2012 and then I'm supposed to leave. I was wondering if anyone could clarify something for me though. If I apply to extend my work permit and tell CIC that...

    How did you meet?

I met my boyfriend on an online dating site. He emailed me first and the only reason I emailed him back was because his profile said he was "willing to relocate" and I thought that meant he was moving to the US soon since he was still in Canada and I was in the US. Well I didn't ask him about...

average cost of living for one ?

Oh yeah that probably has to do with it also. We don't live in Toronto, we live in Alberta like 20 minutes from Grande Prairie. Toronto is too expensive and Alberta has no GST so taxes here are lower. So if you can move, I'd say to settle in Alberta.

average cost of living for one ?

Not sure about one, but my boyfriend and I live together and this is pretty much how our bills are. (Note: We live in a rural area so prices are probably cheaper) Rent: $800 but about to be $700 (includes heat and water) Food: $250 Transportation: $240 for me and about $520 for both of us (we...

How to arrive under TN Visa (NAFTA)???

I applied for a LMO exempt work visa under NAFTA, so I hope this will help you. I'm from the US and had been working for the company I work for currently for 3 years. I applied as an intracompany transfer to another branch up in Canada. All I did was send in all my documents that the website...

Canadians, you want to visit the USA, pay a fee.

This is ludicrous. Another reason why the US is becoming more and more unpopular.

    LANDING FAIL :P

Should've made a copy of the job offer. That's what I did, I made 2 copies of my job offer. Sent the original off to the Canadian Consulate to get the work visa, and kept the copies for my job and for the IO at the border.
