Timeline for work permit (TN Visa) under NAFTA???

I applied under the NAFTA category as an intracompany transfer. I sent my application out to Buffalo on December 12 and just received my approval for the application today on January 20th. So a little over a month for me. And my work permit is valid until July of 2012.

I got my work permit, now a quick question about travelling to Canada

I just received my work permit, but I have a question regarding it. There were no restrictions regarding me not being able to leave and re-enter Canada with it. So my question is will I be able to go visit my boyfriend for 2 weeks, come back to the US, and then go back to actually start working...

Do I qualify for provincial healthcare?

I'm going to be living in Canada for the next year and a half as a temporary foreign worker and will be working part time (at least for now). I just received my letter of approval in the mail today. :D Anyway I was wondering if I will qualify for the healthcare under Alberta's provincial...

HELP! documents needed for Work Permit application?

I sent my application off near the beginning of December and today I just got the letter of approval. I applied under the NAFTA category so what I sent off may be different from what you'll need to send. But basically I sent them a letter of recommendation from my employer, the two photos they...

Did you receive an email after sending in your application?

I didn't apply within Canada and Buffalo (the Consulate's office I applied to) has a wait time of 1 month it says. If that takes too long though I might just go apply at a POE since I'm going back to Canada next month either way.

Did you receive an email after sending in your application?

I sent my application for my work permit off a week ago and I was wondering if I'd receive an email once they started processing it or anything to let me know if they approved it or rejected it. Or do I have to just wait it out and let them mail me my results?

Probationary period for Family Class may be as soon as 2011!

Regarding the cost of deportation, couldn't CIC add a security deposit of sorts onto the visa application. It would cover the cost of a plane ticket to the applicant's native country and if at the end of the probationary period the applicant was granted PR status they would receive the security...

May be unable to obtain letter of recommendation, is this good enough?

My manager was supposed to be writing me a letter of recommendation for my work visa since the Buffalo site in the United States says I need one here. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/washington/imm/permit_work-travail_permis.aspx?lang=eng#REQUIR Since he doesn't work anymore days this...

    NAFTA REQUIREMENT

If he can get a work permit under NAFTA he doesn't need a LMO. I'm applying as an intra-transfer employee under NAFTA myself and I don't need a LMO.

What stuff (food) do you miss from your old home (can you get it here)?

Well AllisonVSC I love shrimp and grits also myself. I first tried them about 2 years ago and fell in love with them ever since. Usually though I just have grits at breakfast with a little butter on them and either liver pudding or bacon bits mixed in. It's really good with scrambled eggs on the...

    most taxy country

I'll agree things are a bit more expensive in Canada (and I'm from the USA) but the pay is also more so it kinda evens everything out more. Also they're sales tax is cheaper in Alberta than what I have to deal with now. I'd rather pay 5% than pay 6.75%. And when you factor in healthcare they...

What stuff (food) do you miss from your old home (can you get it here)?

Woohoo! Well that's great news to hear because I stopped eating grits for like a year or so. Then when I found out they had none near where my boyfriend resides I started eating them like crazy when I came back home to the US. Maybe they sell them in Edmonton also, I'll have to check but thanks...

What stuff (food) do you miss from your old home (can you get it here)?

Haven't moved yet but I was quite sad to find out they don't have grits in Canada. :( It's pretty big down here in the southern part of the USA.
