Advice needed - rent in Toronto

I'm very familiar with this area. There are lots of options in your price range around campus. The places I recommend checking out: 1) Village at York (aka University Heights) - Townhouses. Lots of available rentals, but be selective... Since they are townhouses, some people have divided up...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Nairobi is currently the longest at 31 months. Husband's co-worker is sponsoring his wife from Tanzania, and unfortunately they have to go thru Nairobi. The chances of her being able to get a TRV or any visit visa are pretty much nil, so they're truly in it for the long haul. They researched...

No status on eCas after 2 weeks of landing

Mine is the same. A month or so after landing, I tried to log in because I was curious to see what the actual "decision made" date was, but I got the same message you did. Everything has been absolutely normal since landing. I got my PR card about 6 weeks after landing. E-cas is notoriously...

Get there EARLY. The waiting area fills up quick! Guessing how long you'll be there is like everything else in this process... impossible to know. I was #14, and I was done around 1030am. Another girl from this forum was there the same day as me, she was #6, and was there longer than I was. Take...

As of October, the person in the office who handles immigration stuff was still "out indefinitely"...

    CIC/COPR/Service Ontario name confusion

Thank you Barb, but I've already been in contact with Service Ontario to clarify what docs they wanted, and emailed exactly what they requested. All they ended up wanting was a copy of the COPR. I'm glad I contacted them to clarify, or I would have ended up sending a bunch of docs they didn't...

Instructions - They are there for a reason!

Yeah, google is our friend too. I did use that quit a bit as well. I guess my point is, a little persistent searching, no matter what the format, usually yields the answers we need... While avoiding asking basic questions everyone else has asked before...

Instructions - They are there for a reason!

What gets me is people who obviously found the pdf application forms somehow managed to completely miss the sponsorship & immigrant guides whose links are conveniently located just above said forms... Also, the search function here is our friend! I know sometimes it's a bit of a pain to find...

"Grandmother's dream trip at risk over government red tape"

But... but... it's so much more fun to take a good "tuggin' the ol' heartstrings" story to the media instead of figuring out the other available options! ::) :P :P :P

"Grandmother's dream trip at risk over government red tape"

Haha, nice :) This is true. My cousin holds both US and Canadian passports (born in US), and she was told (quite sternly) that she must ALWAYS use her US passport when entering the States, especially when flying. It seems this family may be in for more unpleasant surprises as this rolls along...

"Grandmother's dream trip at risk over government red tape"

Waaaaay off topic, but I've been wondering... Baloo, what's the story behind that blue elephant tattoo? If this trip is so important, it might be worthwhile for them to look into. If it really is an option, anyway.

"Grandmother's dream trip at risk over government red tape"

She was born in the US... Yes, she has lived in Canada most of her life, but without status. I admit to not knowing the ins and outs of any of this, but couldn't she get a US passport, since (I'm assuming) she has the US birth cert, or can otherwise prove she's American by birth?

    hi

I believe I read somewhere that Ottawa also processes applications from countries where war, etc. is ongoing (including Cairo) edited to add: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t46995.0.html;msg1007970#msg1007970
