    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

Received an email last night requesting my passport! We're already living here in Canada (I'm on WHP) but applied through the Sydney, Australia office, so I'm sending it to them today. As soon as it comes back, we'll head down and flagpole. Hurrah!

How long do you have to live together to make it look real?

Oh... so it's up to me to go and have a look at the profile and posts of everyone who asks a question? Seriously? Sheesh...

How long do you have to live together to make it look real?

@canadianwoman: You have not provided any details of your relationship circumstances. Have you even spent any time living with your husband? It's a bit random making a post like this and asking the question of how long it takes to make a relationship look real... Especially for a 'champion'...

    question about quebec sponsorship

We're doing outland common law for Quebec and 2 months after submitting our application, the MICC selection certificate request came. We paid the $250, it was processed a month after that and our application forwarded to my local office (Sydney, Australia). As already mentioned, I'd say you'll...

    Denied Entry??

BUNAC organises working holiday arrangements, right? Your working holiday visa allows for multiple entries, so you have nothing to worry about. http://www.bunac.org.uk/uk/workcanada/eligibility.aspx I've visited Canada many times, both with and without my partner (a Canadian) if she had...

Mine's been updated with a 'Medical results have been received' message too, and an updated processing date for Sydney (I guess!)

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

My fingerprint record check took about 6 weeks back in July 2010. If you're in a rush, you can send your application before you receive your Australian record check back. We waited for my prints before sending ours but it ended up delaying everything by two months. In retrospect, I wish we'd...

Took about 5 weeks for us to receive the 'In Process' message on ECAS, and we didn't get our AOR letter until about another 8 weeks after that. I know how you feel... It's frustrating, just hang in there!

To spell it out for those of you... Worry about solidifying your relationship before factoring in subsequent issues.

Question about Christmas/Birthday Card (spousal sponsorship)

You can send originals (cards with stamped envelopes, etc) but what if your application was lost in transit? Chances are nothing will happen though I can't think of anything worse!! We photocopied all our supporting evidence, annotated them with dates and had everything witnessed by a JP. There...

    Some Reasons for Denial

Save some money, apply for visa after you've known each other at least a year and, if approved, rent a different property where your partner's ex-husband IS NOT YOUR LANDLORD. Seriously dude, you're opening up a can of worms with that genius proposal of yours. But seriously, the...

    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

The other day, we received a request for a copy of my Quebec Selection Certificate from the Sydney (Australia) CIC office. Funny thing though... We received it over a month ago and the documentation included said that Sydney would be sent a copy as well! We emailed a copy immediately and had...

couple of questions in outbound application

As Leon said, she is not a 'family member' as such... She's your sponsor, do not add her here.

Hi Bonbon - On the next update could you please add a few items to my profile? Office = Sydney, Ap. Sent = 15/9, Process = 27/10 and AOR = 2/12. Got my Quebec Selection Certificate confirmation as well, which was a nice update. Took about 5 weeks from the time we sent it.

@midnightmav - Yeah, you're right about Quebec... It took 5 weeks for the Selection Certificate. Not too bad

Are you waiting as a visitor in canada for your PR?

I was lucky enough to get a Working Holiday visa just before I turned 31, so we're here in Ottawa waiting for my PR. Just started looking for work but only been here a few weeks now and getting used to the cold!

We're also applying through Sydney for my common law visa. Sent it end of September and just yesterday we just received my Selection Certificate from Immigration Quebec. I'm actually already in Canada with my partner, at her mother's house in Quebec, on a working holiday visa... juuust scraped...

    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

Thanks Aroundtown22, that makes sense. As we'll be living in Quebec, we had to submit an undertaking application to the Quebec government and pay the Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) $250CAD for this extra step. I'm a bit surprised they've made a decision so...
